7 surprising stats behind Dominik Szoboszlai's superb start to life at Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has adapted to his new surroundings at Liverpool quickly, and we’ve selected seven impressive statistics to explain his outstanding start at Anfield.

After triggering the midfielder’s £60 million release clause, Liverpool acquired him this summer from RB Leipzig.
A five-year contract was signed by the 22-year-old at Anfield, where he has made an immediate impact.

He scored a stunning goal from outside the box into the top corner of the net against Leicester City in the EFL Cup to cap off a recent spellbinding performance.
Undoubtedly, Jurgen Klopp was pleased with his performance.

After the game, Klopp told reporters, “I don’t have to tell him to shoot; he knows better than me that he has a pretty good skill.

“The next one was another grenade, slightly over. That is evident.
He hasn’t made an impact yet in Premier League games because everyone tries to block him.

“However, there’s a good chance the ball will be in if he follows through. But great goal.
Wataru was in the situation where he passed the ball through and there was no midfielder or defender available to hold him at that time.

“That is why it’s crucial to try to play the first pass forward after winning the ball, or at the very least, have a forward-thinking idea.
That was very helpful in that situation.

Szoboszlai is still very new to Liverpool, but the early indications are very encouraging.
He’s had a remarkable start in the Premier League, and we’ve selected seven impressive stats to support that.

– The Liverpool midfielder has two goals outside of the penalty area. In his eight games for the Reds, he has only accrued an xG of 0.59, giving him an xG overperformance of 1.41 goals.

– His most recent miraculous goal, which he scored against Leicester, was made with just a xG of 0.9.
Select that one.

– To date in the Premier League, Szoboszlai has given his teammates 12 chances.
Since his arrival at Liverpool, only Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah have produced more than this.

– Perhaps even more impressively, the midfielder has created 30 more shots than any other Liverpool player, which is a record.
When looking at the entire Premier League, only Bukayo Saka, Rodri, and James Maddison are ranked higher than Szoboszlai.

The 22-year-old makes 5.17 successful passes into the final third on average per 90.
In the Liverpool team, only Roberton averages more.

– In September, Liverpool’s new-look midfield of Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo has contributed to six goals.

That is how many Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita combined for the entire 2017–18 campaign.

Additionally useful off the ball is Szoboszlai.
More than players like Henderson and Milner were averaging last season, the midfielder wins 11.5 tackles on average out of every 90.
