The acquisition of Alex Matos from Norwich City has been announced by CHELSEA.
Over the past couple of transfer windows, Chelsea has been bringing in some of the most exciting players in the league, and this summer’s transfer window has already seen significant activity.
This summer, players like Gabriel Santos, Kendry Paez, and now Matos have all moved to Premier League giants, indicating that the club’s board has a long-term plan for the organization.
The 18-year-old played for the Canaries’ Under-18s and Under-21s last season and can play in midfield or further forward.
At Carrow Road, where he previously signed his first professional contract, he is a free member.
Matos, who can play in midfield and on offense, played last season for Norwich’s Under-18s and Under-21s, according to a statement from Chelsea on the club website. For the latter, he scored three goals in the Premier League 2.
‘Matos, an England international at the youth level, joined Norwich from Luton Town in 2016 and scored on his first appearance for the Canaries’ youth team against Arsenal shortly after turning 16 years old.
The 18-year-old became a regular for Norwich’s Under-18s during the 2022–23 season, during which he also received his Under-21s debut. In his first 11 appearances at that level, he averaged a goal involvement per game with five goals and six assists.

Although CHELSEA has been adding players this summer, they haven’t yet been able to replace the quality players who have been leaving the team.
At the end of the day, guys, fans are waiting for that big named signing to arrive – to be linked – not all these talents that won’t make a difference to the club’s fortunes next season. Matos is unquestionably a talent and one signed for the future.

Chelsea hit their ‘transfer deadline day’ as £175m raised with seven more departure to come
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has overseen a huge effort to sack players before the end of the month.
As June draws to a close, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has finally reached his ‘transfer deadline’. The Blues have been in a hurry to try and make ends meet having spent the last two transfer windows, and while they have already raised a large sum through player sales, more money could be on the way.
Chelsea tore up the regulation last summer and repeated the feat in January, breaking the record for the amount spent by a club in a single window twice in 12 months.
An outlay of around £600m has always had to be compensated for and the Blues have already sacked several players this summer. And that’s a good thing, with June 30 being the cut-off point for player sales to be included in their accounts for 2022/23.
Also included in these bills are the huge fees spent on the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.
With the urgency surrounding player sales making the end of the month Chelsea’s mini ‘deadline day’, Boehly and company will be pleased to see that a number of high-profile players have already departed.
In total, around £120m was raised through the sale of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy. Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante is sleeping at Al-Ittihad after completing a free transfer and Tiemoue Bakayoko has been released to ease pressure on his wage bill.
That sum will soon be increased by the sale of Mason Mount to Manchester United as the two clubs finally agreed a guaranteed transfer fee of £55m on Thursday. After struggling with a bloated roster last season, more departures are on the horizon.
Among the seven players most likely to leave before the start of next season, the departures of Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appear to be a matter of form.
The former reportedly agreed to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, while the latter endured a torrid season at Stamford Bridge and certainly has no future under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea are open to selling Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer and there is no shortage of interest from the Premier League and abroad, while Romelu Lukaku appears keen to stay at Inter Milan.
Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta are reportedly on the chopping block as Pochettino looks to streamline his squad and Boehly tries to balance the score.
The seventh and final name is Conor Gallagher, whose future is left up in the air. Pochettino is reportedly keen to work with the player but the club would be inclined to accept the right size offer given existing options in midfield.
