Darwin Nunez wasn’t seen working out with Liverpool on Wednesday because he was attending to media matters.
Given that Nunez wasn’t pictured on the fields with his teammates in the most recent round of training photos, which were made public yesterday, there were some cause for concern.
However, the Uruguayan’s absence was not a cause for concern, according to the Liverpool Echo. any assertion that Nunez may be injured has allegedly been “played down” by club sources.
The 24-year-old allegedly attended the AXA Training Center but was there to speak to the media.
Uncertainty surrounds why Nunez was assigned these tasks while the other Liverpool players trained. The Echo, on the other hand, are adamant that there is “no suggestion” that the Reds’ No. The Premier League debut against Chelsea on Sunday will be missed by 9.
Nunez skips the Liverpool practice.
It would be a terrible shame if Nunez ended up missing the first few weeks of the season. He performed admirably during the preseason and appears focused and at ease as he begins his second season at Liverpool.
It’s true that Jurgen Klopp might not have intended for the Uruguayan international to start the game on Sunday. But regardless of how many minutes he plays, he can undoubtedly cause some harm.
Liverpool will suffer if they can’t use him at some point at Stamford Bridge.
But on a larger scale, it would be a continuation of a mildly unsettling pattern for Nunez. During his first season at Liverpool, the former Benfica player struggled, which was occasionally made worse by his lack of availability.
Despite playing 42 times, he still had many opportunities to play. Nunez, however, appeared to be receiving blows one after the other at certain points during the season.
The striker, who cost £64 million, would appear in a few contests, perform admirably, then get injured. Darwin would only ever miss one or two games at a time, but he needs to become a bit more resilient if he wants to force his way into Liverpool’s starting lineup.
He’s probably right on the edge of that right now. That might alter, though, if he continues to score goals like he has in the preseason. Hearing that he will be healthy enough to stake a claim is a relief.
