Although a handful of Liverpool players are currently playing for their national teams, the Reds may not be part in Premier League action this weekend.

Robbie Fowler, a former Liverpool player, blasted Manchester United for how they handled Jadon Sancho, saying it was “not a good look” for the two parties to be at odds in the media.

Sancho later refuted United manager Erik ten Hag’s claim on social media that the former Borussia Dortmund winger was benched for the Red Devils’ 3-1 loss at Arsenal on September 3 due to subpar performance in training.

In a press conference last season, Ten Hag discussed Sancho’s mental health issues; however, it has since come to light that the Dutchman was not authorized to do so.

In addition to the criticism the 23-year-old has already received, a recent article suggested that Ten Hag and United players are “fed up” with the English winger. Fowler has also expressed his displeasure with the way United has handled this difficult situation.

He stated in his Mirror column, “I don’t think the comments, responses, and counter briefing that clearly took place fit into a modern approach to athletes’ wellbeing.
“Today, everyone has a voice because we live in a different world.

There were not many places, even when I was playing, where a player could respond to criticism of him. Due to the widespread use of social media, now everyone can be heard.

“So if a coach or a team makes serious accusations about a player acting inappropriately—in this case, Sancho’s attitude toward training—he not only has the ability to respond, but also the right to do so. I believe that the club’s era of absolute power is over, and they must accept that.

A player has the right and the power to speak up if he feels that he has been falsely accused or defamed.

In response to Ten Hag criticizing Sancho after United’s most recent Premier League game, Fowler added: “If a club feels they have to come out and tell people about it, then that’s a huge worry – because it means your discipline is not working.

Briefings afterward indicate a breakdown in the entire process.
That’s not good for Manchester United and it’s certainly not encouraging.

Again, I’m not advocating being forgiving of a player; rather, I’m urging respect for them. If there is a disagreement, settle it privately rather than in such a distracting manner in front of the public.

“I wouldn’t fault Sancho for reacting in that manner. He was simply correcting what he perceived to be an inaccuracy about himself. I believe that if there were policies in place to protect mental health and wellbeing, it shouldn’t have forced him to give that response.

Significant contract decisions for Liverpool are not just awaiting Mohamed Salah.

Recently, Mohamed Salah accomplished something that even Lionel Messi was unable to do, earning him a new contract with Liverpool.

“Jurgen Klopp has few contractual worries on the horizon from within the Liverpool squad, having spent much of the last two years reshaping his team.

According to Paul Gorst, “the Reds are looking to grow the current crop squad organically towards its full potential with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo still adjusting to their relatively brief Anfield tenures alongside the more recent arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.”

Barella £77m offer

Although Nicolo Barella reportedly turned down Liverpool’s offer this summer, the club may have the chance to sign the Italian midfielder for £77 million the following season.

After being told Barella was “untouchable,” it has been reported that Chelsea and Newcastle United’s attempts to sign the Inter star were unsuccessful as well.

That might change in 2024, according to CaughtOffside, because his current employers are “more willing to negotiate” at this time.
Additionally, a fee of about £77 million might be sufficient to secure a deal.
