There is still work to be done on and off the field, despite Liverpool’s excellent start to 2023–24. One aspect is Mohamed Salah signing a new deal.

On the field, Liverpool’s new season has gotten off to a strong start.
The summer signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have adjusted well, and Ryan Gravenberch is also displaying promising long-term traits that the Reds can count on.

Wataru End has, as expected, shown to be somewhat more limited thus far, but he was an essential component of giving Liverpool’s midfield depth after losing so many players.
The Europa League and domestic cups, which may be the Reds’ best chances of winning trophies this year, depend on his ability to advance.

The favorite to win the Premier League is still Manchester City, as has been the norm in recent years.
Even so, after only eight games, the Premier League standings show Liverpool inside the top four and only three points behind Spurs in first place. Those positions could have easily been reversed if a VAR catastrophe hadn’t occurred.

However, there is still work to be done even though things are going well. Here, Liverpool .
com has examined what must be resolved before the end of the season off the field at Anfield to ensure that the Reds’ long-term success can resume.

contract with Mohamed Salah.

In one way or another, Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool will be decided.
He will have one year left on the record-breaking contract he signed in 2022 when the current campaign comes to an end, which could mean one of two things.

for both parties, as the Egyptian legend is still at the height of his powers and the Saudi Pro League’s interest isn’t likely to wane in the future.

World-class holding midfielder discovered and center back signed.

A center-back is unquestionably a priority now that Jol Matip’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign and Liverpool already appear to be lacking in the defensive department, despite Jarell Quansah’s rise to prominence and Luke Chambers’ high ranking.

During the summer, Liverpool searched the market for a left-sided defender but came up empty-handed.
The next priority is to find a top-tier number six, essentially to replace Moisés Caicedo and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
It would be sage to acquire a defender in January, six months before Matip could depart.

extension of Jürgen Klopp

During the campaign in which he almost led the Reds to the quadruple, Liverpool’s manager already agreed to a contract extension until 2026. But could a second new agreement be in the works?

With this year serving as the “Year One” of his new Liverpool project, he appears to be enjoying his work right now.
Leaving a project after three seasons would seem hasty, and the 2025–2026 season would be Liverpool 2.0’s third.

New sporting director sorted out

The majority of the transfers this summer were overseen by Jörg Schmadtke, with some of the work done by Julian Ward before his departure.
However, a more long-term fix is needed at the top.

Former RB Leipzig CEO Max Eberl was listed this week as a potential candidate for Liverpool, along with Bayern Munich, by the German publication BILD.
On paper, that might make sense, but the Bundesliga champion is also intrigued.
It would be helpful to know soon who will hold the position for the upcoming few years, and Eberl is at least a compelling candidate.

Anfield Road End completed

Liverpool announced this week that the most recent expansion of Anfield has been postponed until 2024, and that the Anfield Road stand will only be partially operational during that time.
Fans will miss out on games they had planned to attend as a result.

It goes without saying that the sooner the project is finished and the capacity is back at 100% (roughly 61,000 instead of the previous 54,000), the better.

The initial contractor went out of business and work ceased, preventing it from having been opened already.
It will be fantastic when it is finished, but there seems to be quite a way to go before that happens.
