Liverpool enjoy a “fantastic night” in the Europa League after Ryan Gravenburch produced an impressive performance against Toulouse.

Liverpool had a “great night” in the Europa League, scoring five goals and giving two players debuts to shake off a season-long deficit and consolidate their title as favourites.
Former midfielder Joe Cole said Manchester United must now “win the league” after Thursday’s 5-1 defeat by French Cup winners Toulouse at Anfield.
After another exciting and attacking performance, they maintained their excellent winning record at the top of Group E of the European Championships, winning 10 of their 13 games this season.
“For the most part we were in total control,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told TNT Sports.
“I scored a good goal and nobody got hurt.
It was a really pleasant evening.
“I think it’s very easy to fall in love with this team.
There is so much excitement there.
“We have to take big steps, we have to grow, we have to work hard, but many signs look promising.”
After an impressive start, his side will advance to the play-offs with two games remaining if they beat Toulouse in their next Europa League game in two weeks’ time.
Former England midfielder Cole: “Liverpool are not in the wrong league. If they get into the Champions League, we’ll say they can go all the way.” “We have to win this game because everything is not enough.”
Impressive Gravenberch ‘not even halfway’ to best
Liverpool have won the Europa League three times and their last trophy was the UEFA Cup in 2001.
After the whistle, vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold told TNT Sports: “It was a contest we took seriously and people will be watching.” Liverpool are considered favorites to win the title in Dublin in May and even after making eight changes to the team that beat Everton in the Premier League last weekend, they looked a step above Toulouse.
Cole told TNT: “It’s a terrible situation for the Europa League and the Premier League.
I’m rock and roll. Once Liverpool gain momentum, they are very hard to stop.
“You can see this team getting really deep with every race. The good times are back.
How did they perform in this competition?
Former England striker Eni Aluko added: “I think Liverpool are too big for this competition.
No disrespect to the rest of the team, they should dominate as expected.”
Netherlands international Ryan Gravenberch, 21, impressed in midfield and scored United’s second goal in the 65th minute.
Throughout the game, Bayern’s summer signing beat defenders, pushed his team forward and took more shots than any Liverpool player.
“His first touch is fantastic and his acceleration is excellent,” added Klopp.
“It’s not half done yet. The good thing is that there is still a lot of room for improvement.”
There was also a first start for teenager Luke Chambers and debuts for substitutes Calum Scanlon and James McConnell as Liverpool rested their regular starters and quieted the next generation.
“We have a lot of good boys and we trust them,” Klopp stated.
“In good moments, you can give the boys opportunities.”
Nunez gets a C for finishing
Outfielder Darwin Nunes is gaining notoriety on social media for his impressive combination of perfect games and misses.
Converting an even more difficult opportunity before the end of the first half, Nunez dribbled past the goalkeeper and somehow hit the post, eventually scoring an open goal.
In the end, Nunez’s mistake didn’t matter.
The ball was headed to Gravenberg, who headed it home.
And the Uruguayan, who has scored five goals in all competitions, laughed off his misfortune as he rushed to congratulate his team-mate.
“Darwin played brilliantly,” said Klopp.
“Honestly, I don’t care if he hit the post now because before he was very confident, the way he took on defenders, the way he got past the keeper, everything.
“He played very well, the goals scored and the situations he faced.
These are good times and very important for us.
I am very happy for him.
“Yeah, I was a bit slapped because the ball didn’t go in, but Ryan put it in and I’m so happy.”
Cole added on TNT: “It would be cruel to say it’s over.
“He could get an A in anything, but end up with a C.
“Didier Drogba wasn’t very good when he joined Chelsea and Liverpool will be hoping he matures and becomes that type of striker.”
