During the international break, José Roberto Cordeiro de Oliveira, the father of former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, travelled to the Middle East with his family.

José Roberto Cordeiro de Oliveira, the father of Roberto Firmino, passed away at the age of 62 following a heart attack.

When Jose got sick, he was visiting Dubai with his family. Family members had posted pictures from the vacation to social media earlier in the week, one of which showed Jose and other family members visiting an amusement park.

Brazilian publication UOL first reported the story, which was later corroborated by Firmino’s close friends and advisors. In an attempt to return the 62-year-old’s body to South America, family members are reportedly in negotiations with their nation’s consulate in the United Arab Emirates.

Forward Firmino, who plays for Brazil, left Liverpool in the summer. He had been one of the final players the club signed before Jurgen Klopp took over as manager, arriving from Hoffenheim in 2015 and spending eight years at Anfield.

In 362 games, the 32-year-old scored 111 goals for the Premier League squad. He was on the team that won the Champions League in 2019 and went on to score nine goals in the league the next year as Klopp’s club won the Premier League for the first time.

In his autobiography Si Senor – My Liverpool Years, Firmino stated, “Not all heroes wear capes; some are called father.” “As a child, José was my hero; he served as an inspiration and an example for me. a kind, sincere, truthful, and family-oriented man.”

A message honouring Firmino’s father was also shared by CRB, the boyhood club of the star. “The Clube de Regatas Brasil deeply regrets the death of José Roberto Cordeiro de Oliveira, father of Roberto Firmino, who left us this weekend,” it said.

“He has always been a devoted supporter of Galo de Campina and took great pride in seeing his son unveiled in a football shirt with a swirl pattern. Peace be with you, José Roberto.”

Over the summer, Firmino, who has 55 senior caps for Brazil, moved from Liverpool to Al-Ahli. On his Saudi Pro League debut, he scored a hat-trick, and the squad is presently sitting in third place. This Saturday is scheduled to be their next game.
