In the competition to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham during the January transfer window, Arsenal does not intimidate Bayern Munich, but Liverpool has alarmed the Bundesliga powerhouse.

The 28-year-old will be at the centre of a competition among the best in Europe next month as teams compete to fill openings in their engine rooms. Palhinha’s play at Craven Cottage has won him fans throughout the continent, especially after Fulham extended his contract until 2028.

In September, Fulham secured a new contract for the Portuguese player after stifling interest in signing him. However, Palhinha is expected to be targeted for a transfer by Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool in January. That would take away a crucial piece of Marco Silva’s west London midfield.

Arsenal are interested in Joao Palhinha’s transfer from Fulham

Palhinha was reportedly added to Arsenal’s shortlist of midfield targets, according to reports published earlier this week by Football Transfers. In the winter sales, Mikel Arteta is committed to upgrading his engine room. However, Douglas Luiz, the Gunners’ primary target, is now priced out by Aston Villa.

At £110 million, the Villans place a higher value on the 25-year-old than Fulham believes they can get for Palhinha ($50 million). Arsenal has taken an interest in the Portugal star due to their significantly lower price tag. However, Palhinha may need to be persuaded by Arteta.

Palhinha, a 23-cap standout, had his heart set on moving to Bayern Munich this summer and was close to signing with them. Thus, in 2024, the Fulham anchor is still eager to join the six-time Champions League winners. However, the lure of a Premier League championship match might persuade him to go for Arsenal.

Bayern Munich fear Liverpool in the race to sign Joao Palhinha

However, according to Christian Falk, Bayern Munich is now more concerned about Liverpool than Arsenal regarding Palhinha’s transfer from Fulham. Der FCB is finding it more and more difficult to pique his interest because of the Reds. They lack the funding to compete with Liverpool’s pursuits.

Alarms are going up at the Allianz Arena as Liverpool has shown a clear interest in raiding Craven Cottage. The all-time Bundesliga winners fear they may have to give up on a player who has so far this season completely destroyed Clinton Morrison in west London.

Morrison called him a “outstanding player” on Sky Sports News (16/12, 14:22). Bayern Munich believed the deal was finalised since they were offering him a substantial sum of money. However, Fulham was happy that they were able to retain him. He’s a great player, in my opinion.

Although Joel Matip’s significant injury may force Jurgen Klopp to make a move in the January transfer window, his team is closing in on Arsenal at the top of the standings.

With a vital victory over Sheffield United, Liverpool kept up the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal; nevertheless, the news that Joel Matip will be sidelined for the season marred the Reds’ week.

On Wednesday, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai’s goals gave Jurgen Klopp’s team a well-earned victory over the relegation-fighting Blades, currently led by Chris Wilder. Unfortunately for Klopp, Matip was sidelined after suffering an ACL tear during the weekend’s victory over Fulham.

Klopp may now decide to change his intentions for the January transfer window as a result of this setback. But before anything else, his team has to go through a journey to Crystal Palace for Saturday’s early kickoff. The most recent information from Anfield is shown below.

Joel Matip was dealt the same ACL injury Virgil van Dijk once had, and he has pledged to assist him get past this ordeal.

After suffering an injury in October 2020, Reds captain Van Dijk was sidelined for nine months until July of the following year, during which he missed the European Championships. Matip’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, so he now faces a similar layoff.

However, Van Dijk has already made contact with his teammate and pledged to support him during his recuperation. Van Dijk remarked, “It’s tough knowing what he will go through now over the next weeks and months.”

But we’re here to support him. We’ll be there for him whenever he needs us. Let’s first and foremost hope that the procedure goes well and that the road to recovery begins.

Matip’s injury leaves Jurgen Klopp without much backup at the back in case Liverpool suffers another injury crisis similar to the one that plagued them before.

When Van Dijk, Matip, and Joe Gomez were all injured for extended periods of time back in January 2021, Klopp was forced to insert Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak as emergency reinforcements.

While Jarell Quansah is available for selection, things aren’t quite at that point just yet. However, Klopp has already identified a potential new addition for Liverpool in January.

The defender Maxence Lacroix of Wolfsburg has become a target for Liverpool, who might sign him for about £25 million. However, the team hopes to haggle over that amount. Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is also a player they are keeping an eye on
