With his farewell to Feyenoord, Arne Slot seems to have confirmed Liverpool's move.

Slot has reached an agreement to take over as manager of Liverpool.

The Dutch manager discussed his future following Feyenoord’s 5-0 victory over PEC Zwolle.

45-year-old ready to seek guidance from Jurgen Klopp

While he gets ready to take over as manager of Feyenoord and replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Arne Slot has disclosed that he anticipates hearing shortly about his future.

In order to return their attention to on-field activities, the Reds last month reached an agreement with Slot and Feyenoord to recruit the Dutch manager and a few members of his backroom staff for €15 million (£12.9 million).

With a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Liverpool resumed their winning ways. Slot acknowledged that he just saw the beginning of the game before having to lead his Feyenoord team out against PEC Zwolle.

“I saw a few minutes of the game but we had to come to the stadium,” he said. “That was a fantastic opening goal. Liverpool won convincingly. I’ll see a lot of their games if the formal confirmation is there when I visit.

Opportunities do present themselves occasionally in life, and you have to take them. That’s a decision I made for myself. You are going to see the announcement over the following few days and weeks.

“Last year I made the choice to stay and now, I probably made another choice.”

He continued: “I’m not worried at all about whether it will go ahead – the question is when it will be communicated.”

Following the 5-0 victory over PEC Zwolle, Slot was spotted bidding farewell to fans in the stands and had his image shown on displays all throughout the stadium. The Dutch manager said it felt like a fitting departure.

“I think I agree on that, that it looked like that,” he responded. “I believe they are anticipating me to depart because of all the whispers in the media. Indeed, that’s something we could discuss.”

Slot also stated that he would gladly accept Klopp’s offer to give him advise over the phone if he were to be hired by Liverpool.

“I think it’s normal that if you go to a new club, and if that would be Liverpool, it is normal that you contact the former coach,” Slot said. “I also did this when I visited Feyenoord.

“It is more than typical that you get in touch with someone who has worked at a club for a few years, or in his case, nine years, given all of his knowledge.” Aside from that, I am very familiar with Pepijn Lijnders, his assistant. However, it would be odd if I didn’t give him a call once the season is over if there is an official confirmation.”
