Darwin Nunez, the striker for Liverpool, is having difficulty scoring goals. Jurgen Klopp, the manager of the team, was asked about him.
Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool has not been discussed by Jurgen Klopp, despite the striker’s admission that he is “not happy”.
After missing a clear opportunity in the 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Nunez gained notoriety last weekend by removing all but one of his Reds-related Instagram photos. It is thought that he is responding to harassment that he has been receiving online. He has also restricted who can comment on his Instagram images and blocked some fan accounts on Twitter.
The Uruguayan has scored 18 goals so far this season, but in his previous 11 games, he has only managed one, which came about accidentally when he chased down the goalkeeper against Sheffield United. Nunez has been under increased scrutiny because of his finishing prowess and big-time missed opportunities, especially since Liverpool’s title challenge collapsed during this run, and they also lost the FA Cup and Europa League.
Due to his decline in play, the 24-year-old has lost his spot in the starting lineup in recent weeks. This has raised questions about his future at Anfield before manager Jurgen Klopp steps down this summer.
Although the Reds manager acknowledged that Nunez isn’t playing at his best right now, he nevertheless gave the forward hope that he can get out of such a slump.
“There isn’t any conjecture,” declared. Klopp. “I don’t know about it, so it must be an outside rumour, but perhaps I’m not involved in it anymore.” As yet, there is no conjecture.
We are just in this circumstance. Darwin was undoubtedly upset about losing that opportunity. He is unlucky in a lot of circumstances where he is doing everything correctly and the ball still doesn’t go in, let me say that because it could have changed now.
It’s quite difficult for a young man, I must say. He has high expectations for himself and is aware of expectations in general. That is difficult. You also have to endure this.
“There’s nothing else to do but go through it. And he is currently engaged in that activity. We are doing everything in our power to support him, but ultimately you have to go through. It’s a necessary element of the journey for any football player. That is all.
During his news conference, Klopp went on, saying, “His problem is that he is so good that he is in these moments all the time and it’s so obvious.” People would simply say it’s not fantastic and he wouldn’t have any opportunities if he was a little bit less skilled.
He is so good that even if he has these times where he can finish something, he isn’t doing so right now. To what extent did he score goals? Whoa, 18?
“I believe he has a decent grasp of numbers. 11 and 18 (league). These are not poor figures. It’s just a result of his character and how frequently these circumstances arise.
“Oh no, not again,” is what everyone is saying. If someone else had scored at that very moment, it wouldn’t have felt as horrible for our team because we had opportunities but sadly didn’t score. That’s the reality. It’s not fun, but it’s a necessary component of a job.
