Liverpool
The ideal summer for Arne Slot is coming true as Liverpool agrees to three moves and Mohamed Salah’s contract is completed.

Arne Slot has a lengthy list of tasks that need to be completed before he arrives in Liverpool. This summer will bring contracts, transfers, and other things.
This summer will see a lot of change for Liverpool as Arne Slot is expected to take over for Jürgen Klopp. And there will be a long list of things that need to be worked out when the Feyenoord head coach arrives at the AXA Training Centre for the first time.
Although the return of players like Michael Edwards and Julian Ward, as well as a few important FSG additions behind the scenes, will mitigate some of the damage of Klopp’s departure, it will still take some getting accustomed to living without the German.
Although Liverpool has come a long way this season, more work still has to be done. Liverpool.com examines the summer that might ensue in the best of circumstances.
What must occur is broken down into three parts: contracts, transfers, and a smooth coaching changeover.
Key moves arranged and center-back signed
Adding a center-back to the Liverpool team’s roster is the one transfer that needs to be completed this summer. There can’t be too much pressure put on Jarell Quansah, especially with Ibrahima Konaté prone to injuries and Joël Matip scheduled to go as a free agent.
In addition, though, it wouldn’t hurt to have another midfield player join the team (even if Bobby Clark will be hoping for more playing time and Stefan Bajčetić is expected to return and be a legitimate option again). Similar reasoning applies to the attack, where it would be wise to have a sixth forward given that one is constantly sidelined due to injury or lack of play.
But first, an additional defender. It would be ideal if that guy had a high enough ceiling to eventually replace Virgil van Dijk, but that kind of player is hard to come by.
Three significant contract choices were made.
Salah Mohamed. Van Dijk, Virgil. Trent Arnold Alexander. Talks about contracts don’t come much larger than that. Although Salah hasn’t played at his best in 2024, he is still the Reds’ top attacker. Alexander-Arnold still has his finest years of life ahead of him, and Van Dijk is one of the best center-backs in the world.
It would be beneficial for Liverpool to conclude the contract calls as soon as possible this summer (to prevent needless speculation). Considering how crucial each of the three players is still, it seems sense to prolong them all.
Arne Slot coaching techniques introduced.
The playing team will need to adjust to certain adjustments even though Slot has been chosen to take over at Liverpool. Now that he has resigned from his position with the Netherlands, his assistant Sipke Hulshoff will be joining him at Anfield and he won’t have to wait until after the summer’s European Championship to start working with him.
That will be crucial since Slot wants to put his ideas into practice as soon as feasible. When Liverpool resumes pre-season training, many of its players will be away on international duty (or at least vacationing after the strain of playing for their countries), but those that are there from the start will have a significant edge. That will present an opportunity for many to establish an early claim in a cutthroat hierarchy.
