Jurgen Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has labelled suggestions that the former Liverpool manager is ready to become Red Bull’s new head of global football “total nonsense”
Jurgen Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has dismissed “nonsense” suggestions that the former Liverpool manager is about to return to the sport to become Red Bull’s new head of global football.
Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager at the end of last season, saying he would take a year off from football before deciding on his next move. “If you ask me, ‘Will you ever work as a manager again?’, I would say now no, but I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation,” he told the club’s reporters.
“I am certain that I will never manage any club in England other than Liverpool. That is not possible. My affection for this club, as well as my admiration for its members, is immeasurable. I could not. I couldn’t even think about it.
“There is no chance. I will probably find something else to do. But I will not manage a club or a country for at least a year; it is impossible, and I do not want to.
“That is all.” According to sources from Germany, Klopp is in talks to become Red Bull’s global football manager. The post has remained empty since Oliver Mintzlaff was elevated to head all of Red Bull’s athletic operations in 2022.
When asked by Sky Germany about the rumours, Kosicke rushed to deny them.”Total nonsense,” Kosicke insisted. “There’s nothing to it.”
Since leaving Liverpool, Klopp has been seen attending the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, where his former club Borussia Dortmund was defeated 2-0 by Real Madrid. He also started his own Instagram account, which has nearly 4 million followers.
And Pep Lijnders, Klopp’s right-hand man at Liverpool, has warned that the German may never return to football. “In the life we lead as coaches, and I’ve lived it now for 22 years, nothing else counts apart from the next game,” Lijnders stated to The Athletic.
“You might have an hour of joy before you begin thinking about the next game. Doing it for so many years at Jurgen’s level, you reach a point where you want to wake up in the morning and think, “What time shall I go to the bakery?” Should I take my bike or the car? What time should I book that padel court for?
“Simple things.”I’m not sure if he will succeed again, but he will do a lot of good for the globe. There will be a lot of interest in him, and I know I’ll be receiving a lot of images from his vacation.”
