Liverpool can now announce the initial members of Arne Slot’s new backroom crew.

Sipke Hulshoff, who worked with Slot as his No. 2 since 2022 at Feyenoord, will take a first assistant coach position with the Reds.

Before resigning from the role earlier this year, the 49-year-old also assisted Ronald Koeman with the Netherlands national side.

Ruben Peeters, who will be joining the AXA Training Centre as the main physical performance coach, will also be moving from Rotterdam.

Following his involvement with the USA national team in this summer’s Copa America, Fabian Otte, head of custodian coaching for the first team, will relocate to Merseyside.

Slot stated to Liverpoolfc.com: “It goes without saying that you should bring certain individuals along as well, since they are familiar with your personality, playing style, and ability to communicate this to the other staff members. But you may presume, as I have already noted, that there are a lot of good individuals working here as well if you visit a club like Liverpool.

Thus, in order to apply some of our ideas and make use of the expertise that this club already possesses due to the nine years that Jürgen Klopp and his team have worked here, we hope to combine the best aspects of both worlds.

“I introduce Sipke Hulshoff, who has been my Feyenoord assistant for a few years. I used to work with him at Cambuur Leeuwarden, a long time ago. He also served as Ronald Koeman’s assistant on the Dutch national team, but he will now work with me from the beginning. Not by much, but I believe that he is a little older than I am. We’ve worked together for a long time, so I think that helps that we both know exactly what we want in terms of gameplay style and game model.

“After that, we’ll bring in Ruben Peeters, a performance coach, who will assist me and the club with – how should I put this in English? – the way we are working on the physical side.” Since the three of us have been working together at Feyenoord for three years, it is normal for us to know how we want to work.

Additionally, we have added Fabian Otte, who previously worked for Borussia Monchengladbach and is currently playing goalkeeping for the USA team in the Copa America, to our goalkeeping staff.

“Those are the first jobs we filled, and I believe we are still searching for one or two more. I’ve been talking to Richard Hughes a lot on the phone about this and the other roles we still need to fill.
