Liverpool may sign five players following the disclosure of Anthony Gordon’s talks

A lot of players have been strongly connected to Liverpool as they try to bolster their roster and give Arne Slot a great start to his Anfield career.
Liverpool is still looking to add players to their roster in order to strengthen their team and make sure Arne Slot has a successful first season at Anfield.
Liverpool is eager to bolster their team for their new Dutch manager during this transfer window, having only won the League Cup the previous season.
With the end of the Jurgen Klopp era came the departure of some key players, like Thiago and Joel Matip, whose contracts were up this summer.
Conversely, a number of well-known players, including notable performers from Euro 2024 and a possible Mohamed Salah replacement should he leave the team at the end of his contract next year, have been linked to a move to Liverpool.
1. Gordon Anthony
In June, as Newcastle rushed to transfer players for fear they would break Premier League profit and sustainability criteria, Gordon was heavily linked to a return to his childhood club.
The player, who only moved from Liverpool’s local rivals Everton in January for a £40 million initial deal, is reputedly valued at much to £100 million.
The gifted winger’s first transfer fell through when Newcastle’s PSR concerns were allayed with the trades of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh. He is currently playing for England at Euro 2024. Moreover, Liverpool turned down the Jarell Quansah trade proposal.
Gordon was his team’s best player last season, scoring goals in four straight home league games. Eddie Howe’s approach revolves around the 23-year-old, and any ideas of a swap trade were quickly rejected.
Despite this, Gordon seems to be open to new experiences; he and his England teammates have discussed the possibility of Gordon moving to Merseyside for Euro 2024. The transfer speculations may pick back up after the Euro, but for the time being, Gordon’s connection to Liverpool is quiet.
2. Kvaratskhelia Khvicha.
Kvaratskhelia has been on Liverpool’s radar because to his stellar performances at Euro 2024 and his part in Napoli’s scudetto victory last season, especially with Salah’s potential departure from Anfield.
As Salah’s contract expires, his legendary career is coming to an end, and Liverpool is considering Kvaratskhelia as a possible successor. The star player from Georgia has stated that he loves and respects Napoli, delaying any talk about a transfer until after his Euro obligations. My next move will be decided after the Euros. I’m now concentrating on the match against Spain.”
After losing to Spain 4-1, which eliminated them from the competition, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the standout player for Georgia, might be searching for a new place to live after the European Championship. The winger’s father and agent echoed this thought, making vague references to a potential trade.
“I don’t want people to think Kvara wants to stay at Napoli,” he stated. We are eager to depart, but we want to avoid upsetting Khvicha, so we are waiting for the Euros to end. A Champions League team is the top priority.”
The father of the 23-year-old commented, “I don’t want my son to stay at Napoli,” in line with this. It’s challenging to perform in a similar circumstance after they fired three coaches the previous season.”
On the other hand, new Napoli manager Conte held different views, saying: “There are no questions. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will play for Napoli and will remain here. Nothing is unclear; everything is clear. Kvara is going to stay with us here.”
Given Kvaratskhelia’s enormous value and Napoli’s desire to keep him, securing such a transfer was sure to present difficulties, but new manager Slot appears to need to add a wingman to his squad.
3. Calafiori Riccardo.
Strong Italian prospect Riccardo Calafiori, who attracted the attention of Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea during Italy’s poor Euro 2024 campaign, is deserving of a spot in the record books.
Under Thiago Motta’s creative leadership, the Italian center-half—who was renowned for his aggressive ball-playing abilities—played a pivotal role in Bologna’s Champions League qualification.
Since then, he has maybe been Italy’s best player throughout the Euros this summer’s group stages. He missed their 2-0 loss to Switzerland because he was serving a one-match ban, though.
Last season, Liverpool had one of the strongest defences in the Premier League with to the play of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and the stand-in Quansah.
But as Van Dijk approaches 33, there’s a growing need to find a younger player. Perhaps Slot, the new manager, is keen to have a backup plan ready for when the Dutchman’s play starts to falter.
This deal is difficult because there is a lot of competition to land the $51 million player, but it is obvious that the club is eager to add a center-half to bolster their lineup, especially with Matip leaving.
4. Ederson
Not to be confused with the Manchester City custodian, this Brazilian midfielder from Atalanta has been repeatedly linked to a move to Anfield.
Even though Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis MacAllister, and Ryan Gravenberch joined the team last summer, it appears the team is still looking for a midfield player.
Ederson, a player who has previously been linked to a move to Anfield, recently discussed his future possibilities with AS, saying, “If there has to be some kind of change, I trust my agents.”
“My agent, who has worked with me for more than 13 years, will notify me as soon as he believes a good thing will occur, and we keep in touch regarding that.” Atalanta will make the decision if an offer is made. The most crucial element is that the club must approve any transfer-related issues before anyone else does.”
“I have a good relationship with Atalanta, so the moment they come and tell me that they have some kind of offer, that’s when the talks start,” Ederson said, expressing his strong ties to his present club.
His contributions were crucial to Atalanta’s victory in Dublin last season, as they even outperformed Klopp’s Liverpool team to win the Europa League trophy.
Ederson, who is currently playing for Brazil in the Copa America, may be used in a double pivot system if Slot chooses to use one. His arrival would probably provide the team consistency, similar to what Fabinho has done in the past.
Ederson wouldn’t be a great deal for Liverpool, who are trying to bolster their roster this summer, and any possible trade would have to wait until after his international duties.
5. Frimpong
brothers Less firmly, Frimpong has become the focus of rumours that associate him with several elite European teams after his standout time under Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, where they went undefeated in the league to win the championship.
Several teams have cooled their interest in signing the Dutchman as a result of the $44.6 million buyout provision in his contract having now expired.
Given that his contract is about to expire next season, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool may be in jeopardy, which might open the door for Frimpong to join the team.
When it became apparent that a new contract offer was not going to come, rumours of a transfer to Real Madrid started to circulate. Frimpong would be a great alternative for Liverpool if they were to lose one of their important players.
Even though it’s not the most likely scenario, Slot might play around with Alexander-Arnold’s position. He could be deployed in midfield by the Dutch coach, as he did for England in the Euros.
If Trent were to lose his job, Frimpong would definitely be a great addition to Liverpool, but this transfer is still more hypothetical than guaranteed.
