With just EIGHT players Slot begins Liverpool preseason training

Arne Slot Preseason action for Liverpool begins today, and Arne Slot will get to know some of his new team. But many of his stars are still absent for the new head coach.
As preseason kicks up, Arne Slot is excited to meet some of the players in his new Liverpool team for the first time.
The Reds’ new head coach will be conducting his first press conference on Friday since being named as Jurgen Klopp’s successor in May. It is also the first time he has met a few of his new players.
As training for the 2024–25 season gets underway, the club has confirmed that eight Reds stars will be returning to the AXA Training Centre today. The players will arrive in two groups of four.
Sepp van den Berg, Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley, and Stefan Bajcetic will be in the first group starting in the morning. When the second group arrives after midday, Owen Beck, Curtis Jones, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Kostas Tsimikas will be among them.
Eleven players from Liverpool’s team who are currently competing at either Copa America or Euro 2024 will return to training at a later time.
In the quarterfinals this weekend in Germany, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Ibrahima Konate will be playing on behalf of their respective nations. Alisson Becker, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Alexis Mac Allister are all active in the United States in the meantime.
This Saturday’s Copa America quarterfinal matchup between Uruguay and Brazil will send one of Nunez or Alisson home. Jota and Konate will face off in Portugal’s match against France this evening.
The international players for Liverpool, such as Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Mohamed Salah, will take a longer break before reporting back to training.
Liverpool.com reports: Slot had a low key start to his first training session, with only a few players returning to Kirkby. He might, however, be scheduled for some significant conversations today.
With his aspirations to become a top player, Kelleher has already stated he will discuss his future with his new head coach. This could mean he leaves this summer. Not only does Van den Berg have a clear plan to depart the Reds, but he is not the only player who could be moving. By the end of the summer, that group of eight might be much smaller.
