BREMER

With Virgil van Dijk’s long-term future still up in the air and Joel Matip’s contract expiring, Liverpool is reportedly looking to add a centre defender this summer.

The 33-year-old’s contract is set to expire in 2025, thus the Reds are reportedly considering Leny Yoro of Lille as a potential replacement.

Real Madrid is also keeping an eye on the 18-year-old, who had a stellar season in Ligue 1.

Next year is when his contract expires, and Lille will want to make the most of their young squad talent rather than lose him for free.

Although Yoro is thought to have Madrid as his long-term objective, Liverpool is prepared to pick up the pieces in the event that the 15-time European winners are unable to close the transaction.

However, in recent weeks, rumours have surfaced connecting the Anfield team to a comeback for Juventus centre defender Gleison Bremer.

LIVERPOOL RETURNS FOR BREMER

Prior to the Brazilian’s 2022 transfer to Juventus, Liverpool was reportedly one of the teams keeping an eye on the Torino centre defender.

Since then, Bremer, 27, has proven to be the best defender in Serie A, and in December of last year, he inked a new contract in Turin.

According to rumours in the Italian media, the agreement includes a buyout provision worth between €60 million and €70 million, but it won’t be activated until 2025.

The five-cap Brazil international is still being courted by Chelsea and Manchester United, according to Tuttomercatoweb, but Liverpool and Bayern Munich are now in the running to sign him.

BREMER: I leave it to my agents

Before Brazil’s Copa America knockout match against Uruguay, Bremer spoke to Diario AS over the weekend and said he was flattered to be asked to play, but his primary concentration was on international duty.

“I leave the matter to my agents as I am very focused on the Copa America,” he stated. “I have read a few things, of course, and I’m glad to know which historically significant clubs I could follow, but in all honesty, I’ll talk to them after the Copa America.”

Brazil has already qualified for the quarterfinals and has now lost.

Ten Liverpool players are departing as part of Arne Slot’s summer transfer plan.

Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara

After losing a number of squad members, Liverpool will be trying to finish deals this summer.

Ten players who have reached the end of their Liverpool career will say goodbye to the club today. Contacts usually end on June 30, as is customary throughout the English top flight.

Now that this day has arrived, the Reds will formally say goodbye to several people who were once part of their organisation.

At the first team level, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are now unrestricted free agents and will not have their contracts extended. During their tenure on Merseyside, both players have experienced their fair share of injury issues, which probably had an impact on the decision about their future.

Adrian is another player whose contract expires today; he has been extended an offer. What will happen next with the Spaniard, who has allegedly agreed to return to his boyhood club Real Betis, is still unknown at this time. The 37-year-old may still stay at Anfield, however this is not definite.

Adam Lewis, Mateusz Musialowski, and Melkamu Frauendorf—all of whom have played senior level for the club—are making their way out the door at the Academy level. While Musialowski had to wait until March of this year for his chance after being used from the bench in a Europa League victory over Sparta Prague, Lewis made his first-team debut in an FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury Town in February 2020 but has spent the last four seasons out on loan. Frauendorf also made their maiden start against Shrewsbury, though it was in January 2022.

The club chose not to extend terms with the young players, therefore fellow Academy players Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne, and Cody Pennington will also be starting new chapters in their lives as of right now. Goalkeepers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have been given the chance to continue their career with the team, just like Adrian did, but there has been no update regarding their commitment to this choice.
