New Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is yet to make a signing for the Reds, but he is closing in on another new member of staff ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Arne Slot has been in charge of Liverpool for a few weeks, but fans have yet to see the Dutchman make his first signing.

The former Feyenoord manager formally began his new post earlier this month, and several players have been linked with a move to the Reds, but Slot and the club’s new sporting director, Richard Hughes, have kept their powder dry thus far.

While it is unclear what areas of the squad Slot and Liverpool’s upper brass are looking to bolster, England talents Marc Guehi and Anthony Gordon are still being touted as potential targets.

Liverpool are close to signing former Everton defender John Heitinga to join Arne Slot’s new coaching squad.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, a number of off-field changes have occurred, and Liverpool has already confirmed numerous new staff members. The new season begins in a little over a month away at Ipswich Town.

It was previously believed that Heitinga, who played for Everton and has since coached at Ajax and West Ham, was on Liverpool’s radar. According to The Echo, the Dutchman is on the verge of signing a contract with Liverpool.

Teun Koopmeiners, a reported Liverpool transfer target, is only interested in joining Juventus.

The £50 million-rated midfielder previously worked with Arne Slot at AZ Alkmaar and has gone from strength to strength since leaving the Eredivisie club in 2021 to join Atalanta.

Since the summer transfer window opened, several clubs, including Liverpool, have expressed an interest in Koopmeiners. According to Tutto Juve, the Netherlands international has stated unequivocally that he wants to join Juventus.

Inacio is the Reds’ target.

Sporting Lisbon centre-half O Jogo reports that Liverpool is also interested in Goncalo Inacio.

According to Sport Witness, Arne Slot has informed the Liverpool leadership that he wants a new central defender, and Inacio is a prominent candidate.

Previous reports said that the sought-after 22-year-old’s contract had a €60 million (£51.6 million) release clause.

Liverpool has been tracking the Serie A left-back “for months,” with a £25 million price tag.

Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu, a youthful full-back for Lecce, has reportedly caught Liverpool’s attention “for months,” according to an Italian source.

The 19-year-old Dorgu had a fantastic season in Serie A last year, making 32 appearances for Lecce, who finished in a respectable 14th place.

Senior football’s breakout season saw the left-back, who scored twice in 17 league starts, dazzle, and as a result, top European teams are showing interest in the Denmark under-21 international.

Although Dorgu is valued by several Premier League teams, he has previously been connected to various Serie A powerhouses, including Milan, Napoli, and most recently, Atalanta, the winners of the Europa League.

The Reds is Among the Patrick Dorgu suitors

PianetaLecce reports that three English teams have expressed interest in Dorgu. Liverpool is one of them. Although the Reds have been “following him for months,” Tottenham and Arsenal have also taken notice of the teenager and are impressed. He was reportedly scouted by the Gunners last season, and they are ‘pushing’ for a trade.

Dorgu, who is also a left winger, is anticipated to go this summer as Lecce looks to cash in on one of their assets. The Italian team is asking about €30 million (£25 million). The Lecce star is apparently eager to make a lucrative move overseas.

Liverpool’s interest in Dorgu has not been previously published, thus it is unclear how credible these rumours are.

In the upcoming weeks, Liverpool is not anticipated to bolster their left-back lineup. Arne Slot, the new head coach, seemed happy with Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, and even Joe Gomez playing in that position.

However, the Reds had problems last season due to injuries at left-back, and they could need to look soon for a player to fill that position.

Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has been loosely connected to Liverpool in recent weeks, but at this point in the transfer window, a move appears doubtful.
