In the last year of his contract at Anfield, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is prepared to consider his alternatives, with Real Madrid of Spain looming large.

Real Madrid is apparently interested in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, so he will evaluate the situation at Liverpool throughout the course of the upcoming year.

25-year-old Alexander-Arnold came up through Anfield’s academy system and went on to make over 300 appearances after becoming a vital member of the team under former manager Jurgen Klopp.

Arne Slot will usher in a new era at Liverpool this year, but Klopp’s decision to step down at the end of the previous season may also signal the beginning of the end for Alexander-Arnold’s relationship with the Reds.

With his contract expiring in 2025, Alexander-Arnold intends to “see how things go” at Liverpool, according to a recent story from The Independent. Real Madrid admires the England international and might make a play for him if he decides to move on.

The report goes on to explain how some have questioned whether or not the extraordinary midfield player may tip the scales in Real Madrid’s favour should the Liverpool star want a move next year due to Alexander-Arnold’s tight relationship with Jude Bellingham, his England colleague.

Some supporters may not find it insignificant, as it was reported approximately eighteen months ago that Alexander-Arnold and former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson attempted to persuade Bellingham, who was then with Borussia Dortmund, to join them at Anfield for the 2022 World Cup.

However, Bellingham has thrived since choosing to play with Los Blancos, and Real would be happy to sign another top-tier English player, like Alexander-Arnold, should the opportunity present itself.

Although Alexander-Arnold has never downplayed the appeal of playing for Real Madrid, he has never disguised the significance of representing Liverpool.

In an interview with The Times back in 2018, the vice captain of the Reds stated that he aspired to be captain of Liverpool and that he wanted to play his whole career for the team.

Alexander-Arnold declared, “I’d rather be in Liverpool than anywhere else.” “Liverpool is a place I want to stay for the duration of my career. I had always wished for this. Liverpool is unique. It is all up to the supporters. We always have their affection, no matter what happens.

“One day, I hope to be a captain. That is undoubtedly my dream. I’m hoping that with commitment, wise counsel, and the remaining effort, I may one day realise my goal of becoming captain—something my family and I will be quite proud of if it succeeds.”
