Liverpool transfer news: a proposal for Goncalo Inacio is being considered amid Double Barcelona blow anticipated

Since replacing Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has not yet made a signing, but it is increasingly probable that he will make a move for Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio.

Liverpool’s Arne Slot era has officially started, but it doesn’t feel like the summer transfer window has ended.

Even though a lot of players, both young and elderly, left Anfield with Jurgen Klopp last month, the Reds have not made a deal since Slot took over. Fans haven’t had much to cheer about thus far, with just one preseason friendly completed (a shocking 1-0 loss to Championship team Preston North End).

Luckily for them, it seems that things are moving forward and that Liverpool is opening its chequebook.

This is a summary of Anfield’s most recent transfer news.

Liverpool is readying a bid for Inacio

Liverpool is getting ready to make their first offer after deciding that Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio is their top transfer target. Inacio, who played for Portugal at Euro 2024, is a left-footed center-back that the Reds are reportedly interested in signing this summer.

Sporting has agreed to start negotiations for €45 million (£38 million), according to Portuguese publication Correio da Manha, despite their initial refusal to sell for less than €60 million (£51 million). For Liverpool, who have long been predicted to buy the 22-year-old star, that amount would be a steal.

Double Barcelona blow anticipated

According to reports, Barcelona is optimistic about finalising agreements to capture BOTH Dani Olmo and Nico Williams, two players who have also been connected to Liverpool. Williams, a winger for Athletic Bilbao, is reportedly nearing a transfer to Barcelona, according to local newspaper Sport, and Barcelona is also prepared to step up their efforts to capture Olmo from RB Leipzig.

Mundo Deportivo also reports that Barcelona has draught a potential six-year deal for Leipzig’s playmaker, who spent seven years at the club as a young player. Olmo and Williams were two of Spain’s greatest players during their 2024 European Championship victory.

Liverpool is preparing a record offer for Kubo

It is rumoured that Liverpool is preparing an offer of €65 million (£54 million) to recruit Takefusa Kubo, a forward for Real Sociedad. The 23-year-old Japan international, who has played for both Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past, had yet another fantastic season with the La Liga team this past season.

Now, Liverpool is reportedly considering a bid that would make him the most expensive player in the history of the team, according to the Japanese publication Sponichi. The adaptable attacker is now bound by a contract that expires in 2029, so obtaining him for a cheap price would be challenging.
