It appears that Liverpool will make some moves in the final month of the transfer market.

The Reds are the only Premier League team without a new player as of yet because they have remained fully out of the market thus far.

However, that does not imply that Anfield’s transfer wheels are not turning. Richard Hughes, the sporting director, and Arne Slot appear to be working diligently together.

August may bring acquisitions as Slot has had time to get settled in and evaluate the calibre of the Liverpool team.

One topic that Hughes and Liverpool have discussed is “opportunism” in the window. And it appears like the Reds could be about to benefit from a fantastic transfer.

Mathys Angely is being tracked by Liverpool

It appears like Slot and Hughes will need to focus on a few areas of the Liverpool team this summer.

One is in defensive midfield, while the other is at centre-back, where Liverpool most recently lost out on Leny Yoro.

It raises the issue of why the Reds don’t just sign a guy who can play both roles, given that they frequently show an affinity for versatile players.

As to the French publication Foot Mercato, Liverpool appears to be doing just that.

They say that Bordeaux centre-back Mathys Angely has been “followed” by the Reds. Angely, who is only 17 years old, is rumoured to have impressed with his “serenity with the ball at his feet and his technical ease” during this summer’s Euro U17.

Most importantly, Angely is currently without a club. The deal fell through after FSG expressed interest in purchasing Bordeaux to aid them in getting out of their financial situation. Since then, the French side has lost their professional standing and filed for bankruptcy.

Surprisingly, their contracts have all been terminated with immediate effect for all players on their books. According to reports, this has caused a rush to sign the top players.

Angely is considered to be “the most coveted” of all, having already made appearances for Bordeaux. He is likely to find a club fast as he is rumoured to be interested in numerous French clubs in addition to Liverpool.

For everyone in football, Bordeaux’s terrible story is not good news. They were facing Liverpool in the Champions League not too long ago.

It is simply incredible that such mismanagement of a prestigious club has been tolerated.

However, it’s obvious that someone will develop a significant ability in Angely. After demonstrating exceptional play for France in the Euro U17, manager Erwan Lannuzel was taken aback by what he’d seen.

Lannuzel exclaimed, “He has a magnificent foot and an incredible understanding of the game for his age.”

Regretfully, Liverpool is unable to sign EU players until after they turn eighteen due to Brexit regulations. If Angely had continued at Bordeaux, they could have had a chance, as he wouldn’t have turned 18 until April.

He needs a club now that he is a free agent, and it doesn’t seem likely that Liverpool will prevail in the race to sign him. Still, it’s definitely one to watch in the future.
