After scoring against Slovakia on Sunday, Jude Bellingham gave England optimism for Euro 2024, but his celebration is being investigated by UEFA.
Dietmar Hamann, a legend of Liverpool, asserted that Jude Bellingham’s possible suspension might work to England’s advantage despite the superstar’s incredible performances in the Euro 2024 last-16.
Gareth Southgate’s blushes were spared when the 21-year-old midfielder’s spectacular overhead shot in the 95th minute of play against Slovakia prevented the Three Lions from suffering a catastrophic defeat. With the world’s 45th-ranked team aiming for a humiliating 1-0 loss, the Real Madrid superstar’s incredible performance forced extra time in Gelsenkirchen.
From then on, only one minute after the restart, captain Harry Kane gave England what proved to be the winning goal. Following the confirmation of victory, Bellingham’s celebration after his incredible strike did spark some controversy as he made gestures towards the crowd, which prompted UEFA to open an investigation.
Now that Bellingham might be suspended, he might have to count on chance. Controversially arguing that England may progress without their best player, he said, “If he has to sit out, that might even be a blessing. That might even help the team.” There must be an event.”
Hamann was not happy with the Los Blancos sensation’s response, either, as he mouthed the words “who else?” to fans in celebration of his last-ditch effort to keep his country in the tournament. “I don’t like his behaviour,” he remarked.
You are nothing without your teammates. If he were to get up and say that, I’d be curious to know what his teammates had to say. He did not appear in the first four games other than his goals. In two or three years, I would wait and see where he is. He is a skilled player, so we don’t need to discuss that, but some things have happened that you shouldn’t do.
In any case, Bellingham was ecstatic after the victory in the round of 16 after scoring one of the most memorable goals in his country’s recent international history. After the thrilling victory, he added, “It’s a sensation unlike any other.
“When playing international or knockout football, the sensation is considerably worse because you are only 30 seconds away from returning home, having to put up with all the negativity, and feeling like you have let a country of people down. A single ball kick has the power to alter everything. Though I dislike the feeling, it feels fantastic when it’s finished.”
