In the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday, Liverpool plays Fulham at Anfield. We used EA FC 24 to simulate the match to see what might happen.
Liverpool’s run to the Carabao Cup final continues on Wednesday night at Anfield when they play Fulham in the first leg of the semi-final.
Following their decisive 5-1 triumph against West Ham United in the competition’s quarterfinals, Liverpool is the clear favourite to advance to the Carabao Cup final in February. The two-leg match between the Reds and Fulham was set up by their victory over Everton on penalties. The victors would play Chelsea or Middlesbrough at Wembley in the championship game the following month.
Liverpool is feeling confident going into the match after defeating Arsenal 2-0 on the road in the FA Cup third round over the weekend, even though they were without key players like Dominik Szoboszlai, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah.
When the Reds and Cottagers last faced each other in the Premier League, it resulted in one of the best games of the year, with Jurgen Klopp’s team winning 4-3 at Anfield.
Can Liverpool defeat Fulham once again to advance significantly to the Carabao Cup final? Let’s examine this.
We ran a simulation on Liverpool vs Fulham to get a score prediction
We utilised EA FC 24 to finish the simulation, updating the squads with the most recent suspensions and injuries.
Liverpool is expected to adopt a 4-3-3 system, with the following starting lineup: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez; Elliott, Mac Allister, Jones; Diaz, Jota, Gakpo.
Liverpool’s predicted XI vs Fulham
Our prediction is that Fulham will line up in the following 4-2-3-1 formation: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez; Elliott, Mac Allister, Jones; Diaz, Jota, Gakpo.
Liverpool had possession of the ball for the first forty-five minutes, but it was obvious that they had lost some attacking inventiveness in the absence of Mohamed Salah and the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold. Even though they had more possession, Fulham had a higher expectation going into halftime, having had six shots on goal compared to the home team’s two.
Sixty minutes in, Jurgen Klopp decided to try and change things up by introducing Darwin Nunez, Bobby Clark, Ryan Gravenberch, and Kaide Gordon. The Reds looked more formidable and intelligent up front with more youth on the pitch, and in the 79th minute, they finally broke through.
Darwin Nunez made it 1-0 to Liverpool
Gordon was sent a beautiful pass by Conor Bradley over the top of the Fulham defence, and after cutting inside, the winger took aim, but Bernd Leno palmed his shot away. Nunez was able to make a goal from two yards out after the custodian parried the ball into his path, which was fortunate for Liverpool.
In added time, Curtis Jones almost doubled Liverpool’s advantage with a long-range effort that hit the crossbar, but the game ended in a draw as Liverpool led by one going into the second leg at Craven Cottage.

Fabrizio Romano offers details on the Liverpool star’s anticipated next transfer.
Although Fabio Carvalho returned early from his loan term at RB Leipzig, Fabrizio Romano claims that Carvalho is coveted by Southampton and other clubs. Carvalho appears likely to go out on loan from Liverpool once more.
The 21-year-old was formally reported to be returning to Anfield yesterday, but it doesn’t appear he will be around for very long. He struggled to get playing time while he was in Germany.
Speaking only to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Romano revealed that Carvalho will be returning to the loan scene, which he believed would be beneficial for the youthful offensive midfield player from Portugal.
As was mentioned a few weeks back, Carvalho’s playing time at Leipzig did not sit well with Liverpool. Romano stated that despite the Bundesliga team’s strong desire to retain him, the player was hardly seeing the pitch, and his official return to Anfield was revealed yesterday.
“So what happens next? For the second half of the season, Carvalho is expected to have a new loan move. Carvalho is about to depart from Liverpool, and a number of Premier League and Championship teams, including Southampton, are interested in loaning him.
Additionally, I believe that a loan move is the wisest course of action for the child at this point in his career. He’s a huge talent; the past year or two hasn’t been easy for him, but I have no doubt that he can recover with the correct loan move and consistent playing time.
Although Carvalho had a rough patch in the previous year or two, he showed great promise as a player when he was at Fulham, so the perfect loan transfer at this moment could be exactly what he needs to turn things around professionally
