A year after Liverpool's "interest," Khephren Thuram is offered at a low price.

Khephren Thuram, a midfielder for OGC Nice, is reportedly available for a very low price after Liverpool’s alleged interest in him fizzled out last summer.

Two names dominated the Merseyside rumour mill last summer: Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone.

Many believed the French midfielders were the perfect additions, and they were hailed as part of Jurgen Klopp’s engine room rejuvenation.

In the end, neither moved to Anfield; instead, Liverpool signed Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister after attempts to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia were unsuccessful.

Thuram stayed at Nice, while Kone, who was sidelined for a large portion of the transfer window, continued to play for Borussia Monchengladbach.

As Thiago gets ready to go, Liverpool may look to acquire a midfield player once more this summer, though it’s unclear who they could target.

Interestingly, Nice-Matin, a French website, claims that Thuram may now fetch between €15 million (£12.9 million) and €20 million (£17.2 million) if Nice decides to sell him with a year remaining on his contract.

Thuram has “finished strong at the end of the season,” but it is revealed that his form has been “far from expectations” this season, which at times resulted in a cold reaction from supporters.

Thuram has played in two friendlies in March for the France U23s in addition to his 27 appearances for Nice this season, the most of which have come as a No. 8.

That would probably involve him in the Olympics at the end of July, which would naturally complicate any move to a new team.

Given that Liverpool had communication with the player’s representation last summer before Szoboszlai arrived, it seems unlikely that they would even entertain a move for the 23-year-old.

However, Ibrahima Konate has expressed a desire to play with his “little brother” at Anfield on multiple occasions. If another midfielder is needed, the deal might be reevaluated.

According to the Nice-Matin article, Thuram’s teammate Jean-Clair Todibo has been linked to Liverpool and is expected to depart Nice in the summer.

Given that Joel Matip is probably going to go on a free transfer, one could argue that centre back is a higher priority position coming into the summer window.
