According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are now demanding that Ian Maatsen renew his contract and commit to the team for the foreseeable future.
He declared on YouTube that if he does not sign a new contract with Stamford Bridge, there will be little hesitation in selling him.
This season, Maatsen has suddenly and successfully inserted himself into Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
He now has a real chance to start for the Blues almost anywhere after a very strong preseason performance.
The 21-year-old replaced Mykhailo Mudryk on the left wing as soon as he entered the game on Monday night at halftime.
This is true even though he played the majority of his football as a left-back during his career.
Following the recent announcement that Ben Chilwell will be out for an extended period of time, he may still have some opportunities in his natural position.
The vice-captain is dealing with yet another hamstring issue, so there is no doubt that competition has decreased for that position.
But because he hasn’t signed a new contract, his future isn’t yet assured.
If he wants to stay at the club, according to Romano, he must take this action soon.
He declared: “Chelsea want Maatsen to sign a new contract as soon as possible because his current one expires in the summer.
“The proposal is still up for discussion.
Although there is currently no agreement, Chelsea is still insistent on having his contract extended.
However, they will keep pushing and talking until one is reached.
However, if nothing is done by the end of the year, Chelsea will once more look into the possibility of selling him.
Despite Chilwell’s problem, it will be extremely difficult for Maatsen to receive regular minutes due to Marc Cucurella’s change in form.

In Jackson’s place, Chelsea is anticipated to use a 22-year-old against Fulham on Monday.
According to rumors, Chelsea has decided who they will choose to start in the top position on Monday in place of the suspended Nicolas Jackson.
Jackson will not play against Fulham on Monday night after receiving a suspension for quickly accumulating five Premier League yellow cards.
Chelsea does have other striker options, including newcomer Deivid Washington, who has yet to play in a senior match for the club, and Armando Broja, who is gradually returning to full fitness after a serious injury.
For the aforementioned reasons, none of those choices are the best. Raheem Sterling or Cole Palmer, who have both played in that position before, could also be used by Mauricio Pochettino as a false nine.
The Daily Mirror claims, however, that Chelsea will reportedly use Armando Broja, who is returning, against Fulham on Monday.
Starting him from the beginning would be a risky move, in my opinion
