Mohamed Salah, a forward for Liverpool, is the focus of more and more transfer rumours. However, it appears that his agency gave the match away to an Anfield supporter.
Given that Mohamed Salah’s contract is nearing its end, there will likely be a lot of speculation about his future this summer. A Liverpool fan is said to have learned about the plan from the player’s agent.
Last summer, Salah’s services were of great interest to Saudi Arabia. Liverpool turned down a proposal of at least $191 million (£150 million/€175 million), while some sources claim that an even more ridiculous offer was received after the Premier League transfer market closed.
Salah has performed admirably this season once more. Despite struggling with an injury at the AFCON, he ends as the team’s leading scorer. However, since the Saudis are still rumoured to be interested, there have been some doubts over whether new manager Arne Slot will even get the chance to collaborate with him, given the potential that the Egyptian manager may replace Jürgen Klopp.
Liverpool reportedly anticipates Salah staying for at least one more season. The Athletic reports that the club plans to start talks on a new contract and that it has not received any indications to the contrary from the player or his camp.
What is the opinion of Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s agent? He has never been shy in the past, stirring up controversy with a few blatantly offensive tweets sent out during the 31-year-old’s prior extension talks.
Furthermore, a supporter of Liverpool (@asim_LFC on X) has stated that Abbas informed him that Salah will remain at the team throughout the summer. The supporter posted the update on social media while posing for a picture with the agent at Anfield.
Even if that turns out to be accurate, there are still many unanswered questions. The most important one is if Salah will sign a new contract or if he will play one more season with the Reds before leaving on a free transfer.
According to Liverpool.com, this would be encouraging news before to Slot’s reign. The fact that Salah’s goals and assists must be replaced in the same summer that Klopp departs would make the task considerably more difficult given how much has changed.
Although it’s obvious that the veteran hasn’t been playing well lately, it would take a bold person to wager on him reviving in the upcoming campaign. Long-term succession planning will undoubtedly be discussed already, but for the time being, keeping Salah in the attack is your best bet for success going forward.
It is not a nice thought to lose him on a free transfer, particularly because Saudi money would probably still be available. However, Salah has already demonstrated a strong return on investment, so Liverpool won’t be overly worried as it negotiates a deal with the player and his representative.
