After his experiences at Manchester City, Ilkay Gundogan chooses the Liverpool star over Neymar and Harry Kane.

Ilkay Gundogan of Barcelona has voted for one of Liverpool’s current talents above star attackers Harry Kane and Neymar, a huge recommendation.
Ilkay Gundogan has bestowed significant appreciation upon a key member of the Liverpool squad. The Germany international has chosen the Reds’ star player over Harry Kane and Neymar.
Gundogan, who is currently at Barcelona, had a long-standing rivalry with Liverpool while playing at Manchester City. At some point, both parties emerged from those exchanges with blood on their noses, and it is usually evident that they respect one another.
Juergen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have undoubtedly complimented each other numerous times. And it seems that extends to the players as well, with Gundogan holding Mohamed Salah in high regard.
Gundogan, who is now leading Germany at the Euros, was asked to select “who’s best” from a series of player comparisons (via TikTok). In the ‘winner stays on’ scenario, the midfielder eventually made contact with Salah.
When Neymar faced Salah, he had previously unseated Vinicius Jr. Even though Gundogan’s decision was obviously difficult, in the end, he went with the Liverpool player.
When asked to choose between Salah and Kane, there was absolutely no doubt at all. The Egyptian persisted.
Kevin De Bruyne, Gundogan’s old Manchester City colleague, was the one to unseat Salah. It was a close call even then.
After letting out a breath, Gundogan said, “You’ve put me on the spot here”. However, he preferred De Bruyne to Salah.
Then, De Bruyne defeated Kylian Mbappe as well as Haaland. Cristiano Ronaldo ultimately prevailed over him, and Gundogan conceded that, given his reputation as a “legend,” he should “probably” choose the Portuguese player.
According to Liverpool.com, it’s hard to predict the standards used for these comparisons and Gundogan’s responses. It was somewhat of an arbitrary choice.
Still, Salah’s selection above Neymar and Kane demonstrates how highly Gundogan regards the Liverpool player. He has spent a lot of time in the Premier League and is well aware of Kane’s scoring prowess, but he lost no time in going after Salah.
Another significant sign was the reluctance to choose De Bruyne. Ultimately, he regards his former midfield partner with even greater regard than Mbappe, but he was hesitant to choose between Salah and him.
It’s ultimately just a little bit of pleasure. However, it serves as a reminder that Liverpool has been extremely fortunate to have a true superstar in the lineup for the past few years.
