Joan Laporta

When Barcelona president Joan Laporta learned how much Liverpool is willing to pay for Luis Diaz this summer, she was taken aback.

After the season, there will be a lot of changes at Anfield. The sporting director and manager will be replaced, but there won’t be many player changes. Diaz is one player that Liverpool is apparently willing to sell, though not for a little sum of money.

The president of Barcelona is shocked by Liverpool’s asking for Luis Diaz

A little more than two years ago, Liverpool paid an initial cost of £37 million to recruit Luis Diaz from Porto (Sky Sports).

When the Colombian is at his best, it’s a pleasure to see. He has a great deal of ease dribbling past opponents, and he can generate opportunities and score goals. According to Gary Neville, he is “absolutely amazing.”

Even though Diaz squandered a couple of fantastic opportunities against Manchester City, major league teams are still showing interest in him.

El Heraldo, a Colombian news source, has reported that Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, and Carlos Van Strahlen, Diaz’s representative, recently met.

During that discussion, Diaz’s future was discussed because Barcelona would love to sign him. But Laporta was told by the Colombian’s agency that Liverpool is looking to sell him this summer for a price between £102 million and £119 million (€120 million to €140 million).

Luis Diaz

The president of Barca was taken aback by that and decided right away to rule out a summer transfer for Diaz. “It’s not feasible,” he allegedly stated.

But according to the report, Liverpool is truly prepared to sell Diaz, but only if a club agrees to pay what they’re asking.

Diaz is unlikely to fetch such a high price for Liverpool.

Although Luis Diaz has come a long way since joining Liverpool, a price of more than £100 million is simply excessive.

Over the past two years, the 27-year-old Colombian has participated in 85 games across all competitions for the Reds, but he has only contributed directly to 35 goals.

His track record indicates that he is far from being a player worth £100 million, and we doubt that Barcelona or any other European team will offer that much to sign him in the summer.

We believe that Diaz will remain with Liverpool after this season.

Liverpool’s plan for Jurgen Klopp’s departure is explained by Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool's plan for Jurgen Klopp's departure is explained by Cody Gakpo.

At the end of the current campaign, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be departing Anfield after declaring he was “running out of energy” to continue in his role.

Cody Gakpo, a forward for Liverpool, is adamant that his squad wants to win every trophy up for grabs this season before Jurgen Klopp leaves.

When the German head coach said he would be leaving the team at the conclusion of the season in January, it rocked the whole football community. Klopp gave the following explanation for his choice: “I have to [state] I will leave the club at the conclusion of the season.

“I know that hearing it for the first time can be shocking for many people right now, but I can certainly explain it—or at least attempt to. I adore everything about this club in its entirety. I adore the city and all of our fans in equal measure. I adore the group. I adore the personnel. I adore everything.

“The fact that I’m still choosing this option demonstrates to you my conviction that this is the one I must make. How can I put it this way? It is that I am. My energy is running low, but other than that, I’m fine right now. I believe I’ve known for a while that I will eventually have to make the announcement.

Liverpool's plan for Jurgen Klopp's departure is explained by Cody Gakpo.

“Although I am fully well now, I am also aware that I am unable to perform the work repeatedly. The truth is the least that I owe you after all the time we’ve spent together, the things we’ve experienced together, and the respect and affection that have grown for one other. And it is the reality.

The Reds are hoping to win four games in a row this season. They have won the Carabao Cup, are leading the Premier League, and are still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

“The ideal picture is that we win all the trophies and after the last game we throw the manager in the air with the trophies in front,” Gakpo said Sky Sports when asked how he envisioned the ultimate farewell for Klopp. That would be pleasant. And, of course, the procession that followed.”

Gakpo continued, “It is tight,” in reference to the difficulty of the title fight against Manchester City and Arsenal. We are a good side, but there are two really fantastic sides. The only thing left for us to do is maintain our concentration and strive to win every game.”
