After Liverpool’s $47 million offer was turned down, Southampton issues a transfer notice to FSG over Roméo Lavia.

Roméo Lavia is the subject of a second offer from Liverpool, but Southampton has issued a strong cautionary note to the Reds because Chelsea is still interested in the midfielder.
Roméo Lavia, a talented midfielder who has drawn interest from both clubs following his impressive performances for Southampton, is currently engaged in a contract battle with Liverpool and Chelsea.
However, prospective employers have been warned that hiring the young star won’t be inexpensive. Lavia’s impressive performances have drawn interest from Premier League clubs despite Southampton’s relegation, possibly leading to a transfer war between Liverpool and Chelsea (according to The Athletic).
More departures from Southampton are anticipated as they gear up for life in the Championship, even though Mislav Ori is the only player the club has sold thus far. Lavia and James Ward-Prowse are among the players who are most likely to depart, but Southampton’s sporting director, Jason Wilcox, has issued a warning to interested parties.
He made it clear that any offers must be in line with the Saints’ asking price because the team is not willing to part with its assets for peanuts. “I think when a club makes an offer, very rarely is it their full and final offer,” said Wilcox. We will consider an offer if it is the right one. We don’t have to sell, we have a lot of valuable assets, and it’s important to think about how we rebuild the team.
“There will be players who join us at the beginning of the season but leave later in the window, and it’s really difficult for the manager and players to deal with, as well as for their families and agents. You can resolve a situation when there is openness and honesty.
Every Championship club that has been demoted from the Premier League goes through this transition. There must be a compromise if a club wants to sign our players on the cheap and we feel like we are losing.
We may tell players, “I’m really sorry, but the value is not there; you’ll be with us in the Championship and have to generate your Premier League value,” in certain circumstances.
Although I’ve created six iterations of that, I have a rough idea of how the squad might look. You would see six possible iterations of the squad if you could see my laptop right now. ”.
Lavia moved from Manchester City to Southampton last summer. The buyback option for the midfielder that City has available only kicks in from 2024.
Russell Martin, the manager of Southampton, said to BBC Radio Solent, “I hope I can persuade some people who were on the fence to stay.”. “I believe there will be some players who will return to the Premier League who we can’t avoid [losing].”.
Because of the nature of the game, some of them will be far too appealing to Premier League teams and want to play there.
Respect must be shown for that.
“.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool’s initial offer of around $47 million (£37 million/€43 million) for Lavia was turned down; however, the club is still hopeful of signing the youngster because personal terms have already been agreed upon.
