Agents for the £17m Premier League players have just told Liverpool their client wants to join them.
Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga’s agents have offered Liverpool the opportunity to sign their client.

With just two days to go until the summer transfer window, the Reds are still looking for players to add to their squad. One of the remaining places to be filled is undoubtedly an additional midfielder.

And according to the GFFN, Liverpool now have an opportunity in that regard. They claim Lokonga – who joined Arsenal for £17million in 2021 – was ‘offered’ to the Reds by his representatives. However, it seems that Liverpool are not particularly interested in joining. It is speculated that the Reds have no plans to seal a deal for the 23-year-old.

It seems to be the end. If you don’t ask, you don’t get, we suppose.

Liverpool offered Lokonga a chance

As Liverpool eagerly scour the market for a new midfielder, you can only imagine the calls Jorg Schmadtke will receive. Now that the whole world knows pretty much exactly what it needs, there must be quite a bit of this flying around. Unfortunately, it’s usually for the wrong kind of players.

If Cheick Doucoure’s agent was on the other line, or the happy days of Ryan Gravenberch.

But Liverpool will be wary of another Arthur Melo-style situation. They would do well not to let any agents walk off their customers at this late stage of the window. Nonetheless, it raises the question of whether Liverpool should just sign someone. They did this to Arthur last year and it hurt them a lot.

This year, however, the need for reinforcement is likely to be even greater. Admittedly, they now have fewer players in midfield. And even though they have more quality, they still can’t rely on Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara when it comes to fitness. It puts a lot of pressure on the players who have to play week after week throughout the season. However, thinking of Arthur, Lokonga would never happen.

Jurgen Klopp have to play Darwin Nunez otherwise he risks wanting to leave Liverpool.

Nunez is Anfield’s toast this bank holiday Monday, having scored a stunning brace against Newcastle yesterday. It was a genuine message from the 24-year-old, who played just 41 minutes in three games.

And according to Steve Nicol, ESPN FC pundit and former Liverpool player, Klopp now can’t afford not to give Nunez a point in his squad.

“It will be a problem if [Klopp] doesn’t give him a series of games,” said the pundit. “If you do what he did, you prove something and you say, ‘Right, I showed you I’m capable, now give me a chance.’

“And if he doesn’t, even if he’s not happy about it, at least maybe he’ll have a three or four game streak.

“If you get benched again for not producing then you can’t complain and he’ll probably still be a good soldier.

“But if you never give him a chance to trust, you will eventually lose him.”

Klopp urged Darwin to get started

ESPN expert claims Jurgen Klopp could soon have a real problem with the 24-year-old Liverpool player.
This is a good move on Nicol’s part. After an electrifying pre-season, Nunez has shown he is ready to start games for Liverpool this season.

But rightly or wrongly, the Uruguayan was still below Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo in the pecking order. Fair enough, it could be said that Darwin didn’t set the world on fire with his previous two cameos – although he was good at Chelsea – and the other two were a little more consistent.

But after what Nunez produced yesterday at Tyneside, it doesn’t matter anymore. If he is on the bench against Aston Villa next weekend, the Liverpool number 9 will be rightly angry.

Klopp could argue that this could be to his and Nunez’s advantage. The £64million man clearly enjoys playing when he has something to prove. Bring out the best in him.

But in this case it would surely only serve to demoralize a player who is now full of confidence.

The Liverpool manager will certainly see this and will certainly start for Darwin at Anfield on Sunday. Anything other than that, and you could understand why Nunez would fluster.
