Although Alexis Mac Allister prefers Andre Trindade transfer alternative, Liverpool has made their decision clear

Liverpool target Andre Trindaj is set to feature in Saturday’s Copa Libertadores final ahead of his January move. And he faces another midfielder who has been linked with the Reds.
André Trindade and Fluminense’s decision not to sell the Brazil international this summer paid off in Saturday’s Copa Libertadores final.

South American football’s biggest club match will be broadcast live on BBC Three in the UK (8pm kick-off) as Brazil take on Boca Juniors for the continental title.

As a result, many Liverpool fans would have signed up for the chance to take a closer look at the Reds’ confirmed transfer target for the first time with interest.

Liverpool were interested in the 22-year-old in the summer as they look to overhaul their midfield, but Fluminense say they are not interested in cashing in mid-season.

“We decided not to sell him because we thought he would reach the final stage of the Libertadores, which was the standard in the sport.” Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt explained it to ESPN last September: “As for Liverpool, I will go ahead.
The CEO of Liverpool (Billy Hogan) contacted me directly.

“I said, ‘Hey, I’m not selling the player now, I’m not delivering him.’ If you want to buy now and only get the player in January, we can talk… Or if you want to wait until December, let’s talk in December.”

Reaching the final stage of the Libertadores is what Fluminense did. While Wataru Endo appears to be Liverpool’s only summer signing, the Reds could renew their interest in André in January, with the player agreeing a deal with the Brazilian club to join them in the new year.
Please continue.

Andre spoke publicly about Liverpool’s interest in him last week, explaining why he was not offered a place this summer without knowing what the future holds.

“It was an offer I couldn’t refuse from a club that plays in the big leagues,” he said ahead of Saturday’s final against Conmebol Libertadores.
“I think every player dreams of playing for a big club in Europe, in a big league.

“But when the transfer window closed in January, Diniz (Fluminense manager) came to me and said he wanted me here before the end of the year, so I decided to keep my promise.
I didn’t know if there would be a offer for that amount and I told him he said he would be there until the end of the season no matter what.

“It was halfway through the year and we were still in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
It was a very difficult decision.
I’m not sure I would have felt 100% comfortable if I had accepted the offer because I would have come to an agreement with Diniz.

“He really values his words and honesty and always says that he knows if we do the right thing, good things will always happen.
And they said that if I stay in January, I will definitely have to bet and the cost will increase even more.

“I didn’t have to think about it, I just did the right thing. Our team could be eliminated in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
We have to make a decision.

“When the final comes, everyone tells me I made the right decision.
I think it would be a very honest move on my part to stay and try to help as much as possible to get this title.

So, whether my team made it to the quarterfinals, semi-finals or finals or not, I was confident that my choice was correct. We are now in the finals.
We will do everything and I will give my life to win this title.

“I don’t know what will happen at the end of the year, a lot can happen. I know it works and I’m sure coming here has helped me a lot as a person and it’s helped me in my career as well.
As Diniz said, I believe that if we make the right choices and act with integrity and honesty, good things will always happen.”

It has yet to be revealed whether United intend to step up their interest in Andre.
Either way, there appears to be room for a new midfielder after Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were sold in the summer following unexpected interest from Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara is expected to leave when his contract expires next year.
Liverpool brought in Endo as a defensive midfielder, but he has become an asset on the left flank after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Rabia, along with youngster Stefan Weiketic.

He is 30 years old and has only started one Premier League game so far.
Alexis McAllister has been given a deeper role for the Reds after not returning from a long-term injury. As a result, Andre is not the only midfielder linked with them. And the Brazilian faces a reported substitute goal in the Copa Libertadores final.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen at the end of the year, but a lot of things can happen.
I’m sure it’s helped me a lot as a person coming in knowing it’s going to work in my career as well. As Diniz said, I believe that if we make the right choices, if we are honest and act with integrity, good things will always happen.”

Ezequiel Fernandez

Allister is a famous fan of his compatriot. “If you ask me more about my style, there is one player I really like: Eziquiel Fernandes.” He spoke in an interview with TyC Sports in Argentina earlier this year. “He is a player who ticks all the boxes to make it to Europe one day and I hope it happens for him.”

“He is a player I really like and he understands the game very well. He is always ready to receive the ball, plays with both feet, can play five, inside…
He is a player with very good conditions.
If Brighton asked me, I’d tell him his name.”

Liverpool’s interest in Fernandes, who unlike Andre has been compared to Esteban Cambiasso and Sergio Busquets, has yet to be confirmed, but it’s easy to see why both players could be of interest to the Reds.
After all, the South American market is going from strength to strength, with players proving they can jump straight into Premier League football.

Jurgen Klopp’s squad already has four players from the Latin continent – Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunes and Mac Allister.
The Colombian and Uruguayan arrived at Liverpool via Portugal (and, for the striker, Spain), where he proved himself at Porto and Benfica before reaching the top five of the Europa League, while the Brazilian played at AS Roma.

Established in Serie A, the Argentine quickly adapted to Brighton. The club’s best players in the Premier League era have come from South America, including Luis Suarez, Javier Mascherano, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho.

And looking beyond Anfield, the strength of this market is highlighted by the likes of Julian Alvarez and Gabriel Martinelli making direct moves to Manchester City and Arsenal respectively.

The same goes for the £221m midfield partnership of Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes, despite their current problems at Stamford Bridge.

One of Andre and Fernandes will be crowned South American champions on Saturday night and the Reds are keen to see which of the two reported targets is the bigger one.
However, despite the 21-year-old Argentine being 12 months younger than the Brazilian, evidence remains that Liverpool’s summer absentee will leave in January.

The Reds want big players to play between 150 and 200 senior games when they move to the club. Andre, 22, who has made 160 appearances for Fluminense over the past three seasons, fits the availability criteria and fits the profile United want.

Meanwhile, Fernandes has made 86 appearances for former clubs Atlético Tigre and Boca Juniors and, unlike his Brazilian counterpart, has yet to feature in the full squad.
Despite previous success, a direct move from South America to the Premier League remains a gamble, putting opposing midfielders at a disadvantage when assessing his current suitability for such a move.
