Arne Slot has responded to reports linking Liverpool with a potential move for Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 23-year-old Georgian international has been the subject of significant interest, with Liverpool reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation at Napoli as the January transfer window unfolds. While there is speculation surrounding his future, it remains unclear whether Kvaratskhelia will be available for a move this month.

The Reds are said to be monitoring his situation, but it’s important to note that they are not currently looking to sign another wide player like Kvaratskhelia. However, should an opportunity arise, Liverpool could make a move for the talented forward, who is expected to command a hefty price tag of up to €80 million (£67 million).

Kvaratskhelia primarily operates on the left flank of the attack under Antonio Conte at Napoli, a position that Liverpool already has plenty of depth in, with the likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez all capable of playing there. Despite this, Chelsea are also reportedly in the race for the Georgian, who is regarded as one of the brightest young forwards in world football. So far, Kvaratskhelia has scored 30 goals and provided 29 assists in 107 appearances for Napoli.

When asked about the rumors surrounding Liverpool’s interest in Kvaratskhelia, Arne Slot responded with skepticism. “What I make of that is that it’s January,” he said. “I think I said after the West Ham game not to disappoint me, please come up with all these clubs and all these players that have interest from us or the ones that don’t play a lot for us to go somewhere else. That is what’s happening now.”

He continued, “Nine out of 10 times, 99 out of 100 times, at the end of the window it’s clear that almost all of these stories weren’t true. So what can I comment about it? The rumours, keep going for it, but no comments from our side.”

In other news, Liverpool are gearing up for their FA Cup third-round clash against Accrington Stanley at Anfield on Saturday. The Reds have no new injury concerns heading into the match, and both Jarell Quansah and Dominik Szoboszlai are set to be available for selection. Accrington, who have won both of their games since the turn of the year, will pose a challenge, but Liverpool will be expected to advance.
