Arne Slot eschewing Klopp’s strategies for Liverpool might lead to a heated match between four stars.

Following the completion of a compensation deal with Feyenoord, Arne Slot will take over at Liverpool.
Arne Slot is expected to replace Jurgen Klopp’s preferred 4-3-3 system when he takes over at Liverpool. The departing Feyenoord manager, who is anticipated to take over as Reds manager following a £9.4 million settlement between the two clubs, will have to decide on an offensive midfield player who is essential to his team’s style of play.
Under Klopp, who told Liverpool late last year that he would be leaving at the conclusion of the campaign, a three-man midfield has been the norm. Overall, the method has worked well for the Reds; among the many honours earned during Klopp’s nine years on Merseyside are titles in the Premier League and the Champions League.
However, Slot has established himself with a 4-2-3-1 formation, which is expected to change Liverpool’s midfield composition. Two holding midfielders and one attacking midfielder, or No. 10, could be chosen in place of a somewhat flat trio in the middle of the park.
Any team needs the position since it acts as a bridge between the striker, the wingers, and the deep midfielders. Despite Liverpool’s abundance of skill, there isn’t a surefire replacement.
However, four Reds players might believe they have a chance. Since joining from PSV Eindhoven following the 2022 World Cup, Cody Gakpo has been inconsistent, as Klopp has often used him in a variety of positions.
Although the Dutchman has played as a midfielder, winger, and central striker, he continues to struggle to break into the starting lineup. The 24-year-old has only made 13 Premier League starts so far this season, but the opening in offensive midfield may increase his chances of seeing a lot of action.
As an experienced Dutch football player, Slot will be well-versed in Gakpo’s abilities at the No. 10 position. However, he can have competition from other talented players for the starting position.
In his debut season at Anfield, Alexis Mac Allister has been a huge success. With the ability to play at the base of midfield or in a more forward-thinking role, the World Cup champion can be a successful No 10 in Slot’s configuration. However, if the new Liverpool manager decides to take a different approach, he could also find a place in the double pivot.
Dominik Szoboszlai, who joined from RB Leipzig for £60 million last summer, has also performed admirably. Although Klopp has requested the Hungarian to play deeper this season, he demonstrated in the Bundesliga that he is a deadly shooter and a valuable addition to an offensive midfield.
Harvey Elliott is a fourth contender vying to unseat the three wealthy stars. The 21-year-old England youth international hasn’t yet made a name for himself on the team sheet, but after Slot looks over the full roster, he might be impressed by his close control and skill in confined spaces.
