Arne Slot is anticipated to sign soon, and Feyenoord wants a record transfer fee for the next manager of Liverpool.

Arne Slot is anticipated to be named the new manager of Liverpool when the negotiations with Feyenoord are still ongoing.
As Liverpool continues to negotiate Feyenoord’s release in order to replace Jurgen Klopp, Arne Slot claims he intends to set a new transfer record.
And as the Reds get closer to signing the man who will replace Klopp, the in-demand coach thinks a deal will be made soon.
Liverpool have chosen the Dutchman as the right man to follow on from the outgoing Klopp at the end of the campaign and stepped up their attempts to lure him to Anfield earlier this week.
There is no buyout provision in Slot’s contract, and the Eredivisie club is thought to have rejected a first offer this week of about £7.7 million in favour of something closer to £10–£12 million.
The two clubs are still in negotiations, but a sum of this magnitude would make Slot one of the most expensive managerial purchases in international sport. After the 3-1 victory over Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday, he made public the fact that his departure will cost Feyenoord a record amount for a managerial departure in the Netherlands.
The 45-year-old was candid when expressing his optimism that a deal will be reached to enable him to finish his ideal relocation to Anfield later this year.
“I have the impression that a good offer has already been made,” Slot stated. Feyenoord appears to be on track to earn the largest transfer fee for a coach in the Netherlands.
“And some part of me still believes that Feyenoord is thinking along those lines because I have been doing so well lately and earning [the club] so much money.
“Knowing the quantities involved, I don’t think the word ‘wish’ is appropriate. When a condition in your contract states that’s the most they will pay, that’s known as wishful thinking.
“After that, you can discuss wishes; at this point, everyone has the right to engage in tough negotiation. However, I have no doubt that they will come to an understanding.”
Slot continued in a post-match conversation with NOS: “It’s difficult to consider since you never know what the question will be, but the response I can provide is rather straightforward. As the clubs negotiate, I wait for that to happen. That’s how things stand right now. I’m at a loss for words on that. I have no doubt that it will succeed.
“The clubs must first come to a consensus. Those, I believe, are the commands. You don’t want to sabotage that process because the season is still ongoing if it reaches that point. Will an agreement be reached soon? Yes, I believe so.
Slot told ESPN NL prior to the game on Thursday, “It’s no secret that I want to go to Liverpool.” The clubs are settling disputes. We must wait until a consensus is established, but I am very confident that it will happen.”
Liverpool enjoy a solid working relationship with Rafaela Pimenta, the Brazilian agency representing Slot, who also represents Erling Haaland of Manchester City. If a deal with Feyenoord can be reached, Pimenta will not have personal terms in the contract that will be offered to Slot. Pimenta was a guest at Anfield for a Premier League game last season.
After leading De Kuip to the Europa Conference League final in 2022, where they were defeated by Jose Mourinho’s Roma, Slot has reportedly turned down approaches from both Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United in the past. Last season, they won their first Eredivisie title in six years. They improved their hold on second place in the table with Thursday’s victory, which followed last weekend’s KNVB Beker (Dutch Cup) victory.
Behind the scenes, Liverpool has been using data to guide their search for Klopp’s replacement. It is believed that Slot has gained a lot of support from the Anfield administration because he meets all of the requirements set forth by Will Spearman, the Reds’ director of research, and Michael Edwards, the ‘CEO of Football’ of Fenway Sports Group.
Since Klopp informed the team’s owners, FSG, of his decision to step down in November, the owners have known that a new manager is needed. However, the search for a replacement has only gotten more intense in recent weeks, as the Boston-based business is eager to reorganise the team before finding a suitable candidate.
In light of this, former sporting director Edwards was named last month to essentially succeed Mike Gordon as the club’s leader. Richard Hughes, meantime, will resign from his role as sporting director of Bournemouth at the end of the current campaign in order to start a comparable role at Anfield on June 1.
Along with him will be the Cherries’ head scout, Mark Burchill, who will work with director of research Will Spearman and his staff to support recruiters Dave Fallows and Barry Hunter.
