Arne Slot is given the go-ahead to restructure the team, and Liverpool stands to earn £162 million from sales

There are some players on the outside of Arne Slot’s team who Liverpool can add to their roster to liven up their transfer window.
Arne Slot can now begin preparing for the upcoming season as international football has concluded for the summer. That implies that as players return and club negotiations pick up speed, Liverpool’s transfer plan should materialise sooner rather than later.
If the Liverpool sporting director is proven right, the transfer “crescendo” Richard Hughes predicted won’t happen until August. However, after Slot saw his teammates up close during preseason, the Reds may be able to begin assembling their squad for the upcoming campaign.
Although the younger players at his disposal have impressed the new Liverpool manager, and they will undoubtedly influence any transfer plans in the upcoming weeks, Hughes will still be considering a number of players whose futures may lie elsewhere as he makes plans for new arrivals.
With Alisson returning to the team prior to the USA tour after competing in the Copa America, and Caoimhin Kelleher publicly expressing his desire to be first choice in the upcoming campaign, Liverpool will be eager to get clarity on Kelleher’s future. While it’s not a given that Kelleher will leave the team as things are, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Irishman left before the summer was up.
The Reds won’t let him leave for nothing, and they’ll be examining a market where Arsenal paid £30 million for David Raya and where Robert Sanchez moved to Chelsea for a fee of £25 million. For a player who was so important to the team last season, a fee of about £25 million is reasonable.
Should Kelleher depart, Liverpool’s company under Michael Edwards was known for its buy-back or sell-on clauses, which might add value to a deal.
Sepp van den Berg, on the other hand, is more likely to leave, since Liverpool has set a price tag of almost £20 million for the Dutchman. Though it’s unclear if Slot would rather give him an opportunity to play centre back, at 23 he’s currently in a situation where playing in the first team is essential to his future.
Following a successful loan, Mainz is intrigued, and PSV Eindhoven has also expressed interest in the defender. It is not implausible to believe that a monetary compromise might be reached.
This summer, two players who will be trying to leave the team are Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams. They won’t be players Liverpool pays enormous sums of money for—they are only 27 and 23 years old, respectively—but they have both shown they can compete at a high level. A combined £7 million sounds reasonable.
It might be time for Kostas Tsimikas to move on to fresh pastures within the squad. After four seasons of serving as Andy Robertson’s backup, the Greek defender’s time with the team may be drawing to an end. It appears appropriate to pay about £15 million for the 28-year-old.
Tyler Morton, who moved into midfield this summer after having successful seasons on loan at Blackburn and Hull, has drawn a lot of interest. Liverpool may yet decide to keep the 21-year-old and give him a shot at starting in midfield, as some have said, but a sum of roughly £15–20 million is reasonable for a player who has drawn interest from major leagues like RB Salzburg.
Fabio Carvalho is another player that the Red Bull team is familiar with. He played for RB Leipzig in the summer of last year before joining Morton at Hull, where he excelled with nine goals in 20 games.
While it would make sense for Slot to give Carvalho a chance to show himself in the preseason, Liverpool has excellent options up top, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go before the summer is out. Liverpool hopes to recoup about four times the £5 million they paid for his services in exchange for a player with his level of promise.
All sides might benefit from a very incentive-driven contract that puts Liverpool closer to £20 million.
This summer, Liverpool’s starting striker lineup may also see changes due to ongoing rumours around Luis Diaz’s future, who has been linked to both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. While the last two are probably going to stay put, Diaz’s future is less definite.
Liverpool should aim to get Diaz for at least £60 million, depending on whatever club, if any, decides to make a stronger offer for the player who has been so important to the team since signing in 2022.
