Arne Slot may have revealed five more Liverpool transfer indications following Joe Gomez's unexpected move.

When Liverpool manager Arne Slot revealed his first competitive Reds match day team to take on Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, he may have been hinting at several transfers.

After Liverpool defeated Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, manager Arne Slot may have hinted at several transfer outs.

Liverpool defeated the Tractor Boys, who were returning to the Premier League after more than 20 years away, thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah. Although Kieran McKenna’s team outperformed Liverpool in the first half, the Reds overcame Ipswich thanks to a stronger second half showing.

During the halftime of the match at Portman Road, Slot made a crucial decision to substitute Jarell Quansah with Ibrahima Konate. The Dutchman stated that this move was done to make sure Liverpool stopped losing duels. In addition, he made a crucial decision earlier in the day by leaving Joe Gomez off of the Reds’ matchday roster to play Ipswich.

Gomez was absent from the Liverpool squad for the trip to Portman Road, possibly indicating the end of the 27-year-old’s Anfield career, despite missing most of the preseason because he was part of England’s European Championship campaign.

Gomez, who has been connected to a move to Newcastle United, demands to start centre back on a regular basis, which Slot is unable to provide. As he approaches the peak of his career, the Liverpool defender, who has played in every position across the Reds backline over the years, wants to play in his favoured position.

Furthermore, going into the final 11 days of the summer transfer season, Gomez’s exclusion wasn’t the only one to suggest a transfer. Sepp van den Berg, Nat Phillips, Tyler Morton, Ben Doak, and Kaide Gordon—the quintet of the Reds—were left out of the team to play Ipswich.

Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones, and Harvey Elliot were among the many players on Liverpool’s bench at Portman Road on Saturday; they didn’t even make it onto the pitch. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were replaced by Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas, respectively, while Jota was replaced by Cody Gakpo. In other words, the five players who are still not in the Liverpool team simply do not have room.

If Gomez is unable to obtain a transfer away from Anfield this summer, it will be interesting to see who makes room for him in the matchday squad. Wataru Endo has been linked to a potential move during the transfer season, although it seems doubtful that Liverpool would want to weakened at that position given they haven’t yet added a midfield player to bolster their ranks.

According to Liverpool.com, it makes perfect sense that Gordon, Doak, Phillips, van den Berg, and Morton were not included in the team that travelled to Portman Road given how large Liverpool’s roster is right now. To put it plainly, they would not be included in the Reds’ first team plans this season, barring an injury crisis. This would be especially true if Liverpool made a few additions before the transfer market closed.

“Unless they can shift these players on permanently, expect Liverpool to work out some loan moves away from Anfield for the quintet.”
