Arsenal to trigger £51m release clause to challenge Liverpool for Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio

According to sources in Portugal, Arsenal is getting ready to move to sign Sporting CP center-back Goncalo Inacio.
Following his first-team debut in 2020, the 22-year-old has established himself as a vital member at the core of Sporting’s defence.
Inacio has been thoroughly scouted by Liverpool in recent months, while Manchester United has also shortlisted the Portugal international for centre back.
However, Arsenal is “tightening their siege” on signing Inacio ahead of their Premier League rivals, according to the Portuguese daily A Bola.
According to the report, Arsenal is willing to pay the transfer cost for the left-sided center-back during the January transfer window, even if they are already aware of the €60 million (£51.5 million) release clause in his contract with Sporting.
Sporting is already planning to replace Inacio, and they have set their sights on Otavio, a centre defender from Famalicao who transferred to Portugal from Flamengo in Brazil last year.
In the meantime, Arsenal has been searching for a new left-sided central defender to compete with Gabriel Magalhaes and partner with William Saliba.
Last month, Olympiacos manager Carlos Carvalhal—a former center-back—called Inacio a “complete defender” in an interview with the Spanish newspaper AS.
“He’s a central defender who excels at playing in midfield,” Carvalhal remarked.
His technical proficiency is his strong suit. He excels at playing both inside and outside passes, both long and short. He has a left foot. He is a smart player who excels at using his mind, both on defence and in attack.
He has already tallied a number of goals. He is already guaranteed to play for the Portuguese national team.
He is a highly complete central defender of the highest calibre. He reads the game well, anticipates well, plays both defence and attack well, and is capable of making wise decisions while on the pitch.
Not many players can be said to be like him. I can’t think of anyone who is similar to him—he’s left-footed and has such excellent technical skill.

Kyanno Lorenzo is available to Liverpool for just £200,000.
Kyanno Lorenzo, an 18-year-old phenom from Benfica, might be available to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool for under £200,000.
Liverpool is reportedly interested in Kyanno Lorenzo, per a report from Soccernews. The adolescent phenomenon has gained a lot of notoriety and attention for his outstanding performances. The Merseyside club is willing to sign him for a meagre £200,000 because they want him in their ranks.
Lorenzo began his football career in the Feyenoord junior system before moving on to Sparta Rotterdam. He relocated to Portugal in 2021 and joined Benfica’s youth team. He has advanced through the ranks over the years and is currently a member of their Under-23 squad.
The 18-year-old winger has been playing for Benfica’s Under-23 team and, more recently, the Netherlands Under-19 team, and he has been doing an incredible job for them. Many teams from throughout Europe have been closely monitoring his circumstances at the Portuguese club as a result of his remarkable ascent and growth.
One of the reasons why there seems to be an unprecedented amount of interest in Lorenzo’s services is because his contract with Benfica expires at the end of the current campaign. Benfica will look to cash in on the teenager if they are unable to tie him down to a new contract within the next few weeks.
They will allow him to depart in the next transfer window for a mere £200,000, according to the report. Liverpool is among the teams that have been keeping an eye on the teenager in the interim. Lorenzo has the makings of a spectacular player, and the Reds are always searching for young players with enormous potential.
The Reds are eager to sign the adolescent phenom for a meagre £200,000, so they will do everything in their power to bring him to the team. The 18-year-old may not be ready to play in the Premier League just yet, but he may end up in their starting lineup
