Chelsea Transfer News – Get the latest Chelsea news including updates on Ian Maatsen, Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill.
The international break is here and for Chelsea it could be a crucial two weeks for Mauricio Pochettino and his team when it comes to delivering results.
The Blues have just four points from their first four games as the new head coach’s injury problems mount. He could benefit from the return of Reece James and Benoit Badiashile, while football.london understands Levi Colwill is doing well despite concerns over his fitness.
Although the transfer market is now closed, there are still some repercussions from the summer as Ian Maatsen appears to have been given an ultimatum to sign a new contract or leave in January.
Meanwhile, the windows of Saudi Arabia and Turkey remain open and could trigger a new turning point.
Latest sponsorship front shirt…
Chelsea appear to have expanded their search for a front-of-shirt sponsor as the club continues talks with several potential candidates. According to The Athletic, the Blues have held talks with representatives of Saudi state airline Riyadh Air and have floated a potential sponsorship deal on the front of the shirt.
The report states that Chelsea are currently in talks with several companies as Todd Boehly wants to increase the club’s commercial revenue.
Riyadh Air, which already sponsors Atletico Madrid, is owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), majority owner of Newcastle United.
The Athletic add that Chelsea officials, including CEO Chris Jurasek, hosted Riyadh Air at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as Nottingham Forest swept away a 1-0 victory.
The West London team is said to have floated the idea of a multi-year sponsorship deal for the men’s and women’s teams.
Boehly’s net worth skyrockets!
As of early July, Todd Boehly had an estimated net worth of £5.18 billion ($6.54 billion), according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
This was a huge increase from £4.2 billion ($5.3 billion) a year earlier and continues strong and steady growth for Boehly.
Despite the footballing world putting Boehly in a negative light for his rash spending and strategic decisions at SW6, his net worth rose again after the transfer window.
Bloomberg now values it at £5.20 billion ($6.57 billion), up another £20 million ($24 million).
Chelsea fans are now hoping that the owner can translate this success into better results on the pitch, otherwise the pressure on Boehly and co could already increase…
Madison Regret
In an interview with Betfred, Glen Johnson was asked if Chelsea regret not signing James Maddison this summer.
The former Blues defender said: “Yes, they’re probably kidding themselves a bit because Maddison went to Tottenham for a relatively cheap price when you consider the prices some clubs pay for players.
“He’s a good player, he’s got a free spirit and he’s bold.
He’s the kind of player every top club needs.
Does he perform every week?
“No, he hasn’t, but Chelsea have had the opportunity to sign someone of Maddison’s quality for a relatively low price and I think they are going to kick themselves for not going through with the deal.”
Olise lifeline
Chelsea have received a major boost in their hopes of signing Michael Olise.
The Crystal Palace star was closely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, but the move fell through after he decided to instead sign a new long-term deal with Selhurst Park.
According to the Evening Standard, Olise has a new release clause in her contract, which will go into effect next summer.
The report said the release clause is “significantly higher”, although the exact figure is currently unknown.
Palace are also said to have rewarded Olise with a significant increase on his previous salary, which would have been around £45,000 a week.
Guardiola clarifies Palmer’s feelings.
Pep Guardiola is said to be disappointed by the loss of Cole Palmer this summer, with the youngster moving to Chelsea in the transfer window.
According to TeamTalk, the Man City manager was disappointed with the loss of the 21-year-old.
The report says Palmer was seeking assurances about his future playing time – which Guardiola could not guarantee.
This led to his exit from the Etihad Stadium, with Chelsea making their intentions clear for the striker…
Chelsea were tipped to sign Ferguson.
Owen Hargreaves helped Chelsea overtake Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Evan Ferguson.
Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty Show following Brighton’s win over Newcastle before the international break, he said: “Last season it was against the best defense in the Premier League.
“Dan Burn looked very concerned about Ferguson.
I like the fact that all three goals were different.
The first was easy, he was in the right place. The second was a great goal.
He’s a bit of an old school centre-forward, he has that physical profile.”
When the former Manchester United midfielder was then asked which club the striker would join next, he named the west London side as the most likely destination.
Hargreaves said: “Probably Chelsea because they buy all the players from Brighton.”
Levi Colwill injury update.
football.london understands Colwill has been given the green light to join the England squad ahead of his potential senior debut in Poland on Saturday against Ukraine.
Colwill was absent from his first training session on Tuesday but it was not linked to an injury problem, sources have confirmed to football.london.
It’s more about focusing on your workload.
Even people like Bukayo Saka and Callum Wilson weren’t involved.
Gabriel Moscardo’s loophole…
Manchester City could be a major blow to Chelsea’s hopes of signing Gabriel Moscardo.
The 17-year-old midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the closing days of the summer transfer window, but despite interest from the Blues, a deal could not be reached before the deadline.
According to Itatiaia, Moscardo has included a €15m release clause in his contract for Brazilian clubs.
Consequently, Bahia, which belongs to the city group, could buy it for less than what the Premier League champions have to pay for negotiations with the Corinthians.
While the side of Pep Guardiola was theoretically capable of maneuvering the price and saving millions in theory, Itatiaia adds that the Corinthians are not interested in this type of train and that they are ready to find in advance in Their conversations with Chelsea.

Recent maatsen contract.
Chelsea determined a clear ultimatum for the young Ian Maathsen who, according to the latest reports, he must sign a new agreement or a solution in the transfer window.
Chelsea will now have a new contract for Maathsen, football. The Cobham graduate can still be seen as expendable but signing a new contract will either protect his value or ensure he remains at the club for the long term.
