Malo Gusto, who moved from Lyon to the team in January and joined them this summer, has been given the number 27. The numbers 20 and 16 will be worn by young midfielders Andrey Santos and Lesley Ugochukwu, respectively.

A number of players have switched numbers ahead of the new season as a result of the numerous squad numbers that were left vacant this summer after players left Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling, an English international who joined us from Manchester City last season, wore number 17; he is now our new number 7.

Before the start of the new campaign, Noni Madueke chose the number 11 jersey. Benoit Badiashile will don the number 5, Carney Chukwuemeka the number 17, Marc Cucurella the number 3, and Armando Broja the number 19.

In the number 26 jersey made famous at Chelsea by fellow Academy alumnus John Terry, Levi Colwill, who just last week signed a new six-year contract, has replaced him.

After making an impression during preseason, Ian Maatsen was added to the first-team roster this summer. The versatile Dutchman will don the number 29.

Chelsea contacts the relegated Leeds star and is prepared to trigger the player’s release clause.

Chelsea contacts the relegated Leeds star and is prepared to trigger the player's release clause. According to reports, Chelsea has contacted Tyler Adams, a midfielder for Leeds United, and is prepared to trigger his relegation release clause.

Prior to the start of the upcoming Premier League season, manager Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to bolster his midfield lineup. However, he has been unsuccessful in finding suitable replacements thus far.

Paris Saint-Germain beat the Blues to the signing of Manuel Ugarte at the beginning of the summer, and Brighton is still putting up a fight for Moises Caicedo, who is a top target for them.

Adams was recently mentioned as a possible replacement for the Ecuadorian in Chelsea’s transfer plans, but it now seems the club wants both players.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Adams’ representatives have been contacted by the west London club’s hierarchy, who is also looking into the deal’s price.

The transfer for Adams is being treated separately from Caicedo negotiations, and the American captain is not just seen as a backup option but rather as someone who can add depth and competition to the midfield.

Adams, who was released by RB Leipzig last summer, is now available for just £20 million following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League.

Chelsea contacts the relegated Leeds star and is prepared to trigger the player's release clause.
The Daily Mail even claims that Chelsea’s interest has grown to the point where they are prepared to trigger his release clause.

Pochettino prefers to have at least one new midfielder in before next Sunday’s game, but any deal for Caicedo is unlikely to be finished in time with just one week until the Blues face Liverpool in their opening game of the season.

Because Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all sold, N’Golo Kante left on a free transfer, leaving Chelsea with few options in the midfield.

Last weekend, when asked if the team was still looking for a midfielder, Pochettino responded, “I think we’re still talking about needing an experienced midfielder, yes.”.

With 14 appearances in the Champions League and 75 appearances in the Bundesliga prior to his season in the Premier League with Leeds, Adams, 24, undoubtedly brings a wealth of experience to the table. He has 36 caps for the USA as well.

Adams’ release clause would need to be paid in full, which would be different from Chelsea’s usual purchasing strategy since they typically spread out the cost of transfers over several years.
