James Trafford

Lfc transfer news: The talented young star has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool’s reported target James Trafford has agreed to personal terms with Newcastle United.

The Burnley custodian impressed last season despite being relegated under Vincent Kompany, and as a result, he has become a target for several clubs. Trafford has been an important figure for the England U21s over the last two years; he was in contention to be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad due to his excellent development and was part of the 33-man initial roster, but he did not make the cut this time around.

With Liverpool likely losing backup keeper Caoimhin Kelleher this summer, the 21-year-old has been linked with the Reds, according to Football Insider. However, they may be about to miss out because Newcastle are thought to have agreed personal conditions but a sum has not to be determined.

Romano took to X to update fans on the most recent news: ‘I understand Newcastle have signed personal terms with James Trafford as their top choice for new goalkeeper. A new proposal to Burnley is expected soon, valued at over £15 million with performance-based add-ons. Manchester City will earn 20% of the price from Burnley.

Trafford gained League One experience with Bolton in the 2022/23 season, earning him a starting opportunity under Kompany last season. He started the first 28 league games of the season before being replaced by the more experienced Arijanet Muric. Despite his age, Trafford had great poise and courage in playing out of the back, as well as the traits of a promising sweeper keeper.

Kompany explained his decision to drop Trafford, stating that it was due to the luxury of having two players of comparable skill levels. “It’s one of the positions where I have the luxury of having two good players, so at any given time, I can make the best decision for the team.” It’s not a large or tough decision; it’s just two strong players competing, and I’ll take use of that luxury in as many positions as possible.”

Liverpool’s conundrum over Kelleher will continue throughout the summer, with reports indicating a price tag of more than £20 million. While Kelleher may stay, Adrian’s future is questionable; Liverpool offered the Spaniard a new contract, but he has since been in negotiations about returning to Spain, which would need Liverpool to promote or sign a new goalkeeper.

Liverpool is looking to sign a dynamic 23-year-old who has already expressed his desire to transfer to Anfield.

Liverpool is looking to sign a dynamic 23-year-old who has already expressed his desire to transfer to Anfield.

Liverpool simply must strengthen this summer if they are to bridge the gap with their Premier League rivals.

Jurgen Klopp won an important top-four finish last season, but new faces are required to take the team to the next level.

Champions League football is also returning to Anfield, and new manager Arne Slot will need a strong and capable squad to compete.

He has plenty of solid choices, but the Reds aren’t the entire package right now.

Several areas require improvement, but a player connected with Liverpool may help fix more than one problem.

Liverpool has set its sights on Feyenoord ace Lutsharel Geertruida.

According to AD, Liverpool are looking to capture Feyenoord star Lutsharel Geertruida in the summer transfer season.

Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old ahead of the new season.

Geertruida, who has seven caps for the Netherlands, has made nearly 200 Feyenoord appearances.

This season, the player made 47 appearances, playing at right-back, centre-back, and left-back.

Lutsharel Geertruida may reunite with Arne Slot.

Slot, who has just recently left Feyenoord, certainly knows the defence well, and a reunion is already being discussed.

Geertruida is highly interested in working with Slot at Anfield, but whether the powers that be on Merseyside would approve the move remains to be seen.

He would surely improve the existing squad, with the Dutch international capable of playing in defensive midfield.

That adaptability might help fill a void at Anfield, as current defensive midfielder Wataru Endo could leave after just one season.

Furthermore, the Feyenoord player has extensive big-game experience, having faced Atletico Madrid, Lazio, and Celtic in this season’s Champions League.
