Federico Chiesa makes his Liverpool debut as the Reds secure a victory

Federico Chiesa has spoken out after making his debut for Liverpool. The 26-year-old forward, who joined from Juventus late in the summer transfer window, had a brief appearance as Liverpool triumphed over AC Milan at the San Siro in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Christian Pulisic gave AC Milan an early lead, but Ibrahima Konate equalized for Liverpool from a corner. Just before halftime, Virgil van Dijk put Liverpool ahead with another set-piece goal. Dominik Szoboszlai then sealed the win in the second half, extending the lead and securing three vital points.

After the match, several players celebrated on social media, including Chiesa, who shared multiple images from the game on Instagram, garnering over 300,000 likes within eight hours. He captioned the post: “Happy to make my debut with @liverpoolfc! Great win in San Siro! [three arm flexing emojis] #uefachampionsleague.”

Fans, friends, and teammates filled the comments with over 2,000 messages. Konstantinos Tsimikas congratulated Chiesa, while Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai reacted with emojis.

Van Dijk also celebrated his own milestone, marking his 50th Champions League appearance and sharing a post with the caption: “Back [shooting star emoji]!”

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, Van Dijk emphasized the importance of consistency. “It sounds very easy but the consistency. You have to stay fit, you have to do everything in your power to be ready for the next game,” he stated. He noted the need for every player to be in peak condition, whether they start or come off the bench.

“We go home now, we’re back home in the middle of the night but recovery starts already, eat the right stuff,” he added, stressing the significance of preparation for upcoming challenges.

Alexis Mac Allister posted on Instagram: “First step in the Champions League with the Reds and it couldn’t have been better!”

Some players shared less; Darwin Nunez uploaded a silent image from the match. He replaced Diogo Jota in the second half but later changed his account to private, limiting access to his profile. Nunez has yet to start a competitive match for Liverpool under Slot, raising questions about his future.

Despite summer transfer rumors, a move did not materialize, and he previously removed images of himself in a Liverpool kit from his account, leaving only pictures from his time at Benfica and with his national team—though his profile picture still featured him in a Liverpool shirt.
