Fiorentina finally speak up about Sofyan Amrabat transfer as Man Utd and Liverpool pursue

Sofyan Amrabat played the key role in Morocco’s progress to the World Cup semi-finals and there is a lot of interest in the Premier League for Fiorentina’s fighting central midfielder
Fiorentina have denied reports that they have received an official offer from Manchester United for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Amrabat, who came through at Utrecht when Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag was in charge, is being linked with a reunion with his former manager. However, United are not the only Premier League club linked with the Serie A star.
Liverpool are also in the game for the 26-year-old as they seek reinforcements having lost several midfielders of their own. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both appear destined for the Saudi Pro League after others including James Milner departed, but Fiorentina have yet to receive a concrete offer for Amrabat.
“He [Amrabat] is also very attached to the team and to me too. We speak English and we talk almost every day,” Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone told Sky Sport Italia (via Metro). “At the moment nothing official has arrived, I told him to come here concentrated, because he is a Fiorentina player.
“He must have his head here and be ready for the start of the competition. Then if something happens we will evaluate it. We already have a very strong division in midfield.”
Fiorentina reached the Europa Conference League final last season, losing to West Ham, and will return to the competition this season. The Viola have already lost several members of last season’s squad, while a change in the Premier League with Fulham has also been speculated among those interested.
There are reports of renewed interest from Liverpool, despite the Reds already spending £100m on new midfielders this summer. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have both moved to Anfield, although the number of players leaving far outnumber new signings.
United, meanwhile, have budget considerations at stake following the landing of Mason Mount and Andre Onana. However, they were still able to raise money by selling fringe players amid interest in the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred.
Ten Hag has already shown a penchant for bringing in players he’s worked with in the past. The latest example is goalkeeper Onana, a star under the Dutchman at Ajax, who joined Inter after a successful spell in Italy.
“Manchester United have a long history of incredible goalkeeping and I will now give everything to create my legacy for years to come,”
said the Cameroon international following his move to Old Trafford. “I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with Erik ten Hag again and look forward to playing my part in the success I know he is determined to achieve at this great football club.”
