Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Liverpool, Arne Slot, has been officially announced, but former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has cautioned that the Dutchman’s success won’t come easily.

After selecting Arne Slot, Brendan Rodgers has cautioned Liverpool that they are going through a transitional phase.

After nine years in command at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp has resigned, and Slot has taken over. When Klopp succeeded Rodgers in 2015, Liverpool won the FA Cup, the Champions League, the Premier League, and two Carabao Cups.

With the Reds having placed third in the Premier League the previous season, he is leaving. As Slot’s first job outside of his native Netherlands, he confronts a challenging test as he builds on his work.

Furthermore, Rodgers thinks Slot will need some time to find success. When Rodgers’ Celtic team played Feyenoord in the Champions League group stages, he faced the Dutchman, and Slot impressed him.

“I believe it is a shift,” he stated on talkSPORT. “When a person has been at a club for as long as Jurgen has, he leaves his mark on the players, staff, and club itself. One or two players, along with him and his crew, will move on.

“Arne is a good guy, but there will be that transitional period.” When we played Feyenoord in the Champions League this season, I got to know him. I have no doubt that he will fit in well since his sides play excellent football. Another of those teams is Liverpool, which is a legendary team with a long history. I have no doubt that he will succeed there.

Last Saturday, the agreement bringing Slot to Liverpool was finalised, and the Dutchman will shortly begin working there. Following his exit, he paid homage to Feyenoord while acknowledging that he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take over Liverpool.

“It is certainly not an easy decision to close the door behind you at a club where you have experienced so many wonderful moments and worked successfully with so many wonderful people,” Slot stated.

“But as a player, it’s hard to pass up the chance to lead one of the biggest teams in the world as a head coach in the Premier League. Feyenoord’s willingness to work with me during this transition is greatly appreciated.

“I have had a great three years at Feyenoord and have felt very much at home with the fans and the club from day one. I was certain that I could succeed at this fantastic club when I first arrived in Rotterdam in the summer of 2021.

“I’m extremely proud that we made it to a European final in just three years and took home multiple awards.” I treasure the memories I have of Feyenoord since it is the club where I was able to enjoy the first significant victories in my career as a trainer and where I saw many incredible games.”
