Liverpool “looking at defensive targets” after pulling out of Andre transfer

It is said that Liverpool is “looking at defensive targets” rather than making a move for Fluminense midfielder Andre, who is expected to sign with Fulham.

Andre’s status as a target for Liverpool was widely anticipated prior to the January transfer window, since the 22-year-old was the subject of an inquiry throughout the summer.

But Anfield owns this. Subsequently, David Lynch revealed that there was no plan to acquire the Brazil international.

With four games remaining following their 1-0 victory over Sao Paulo on Thursday, Fluminense is expected to finish mid-table in the Brazilian Serie A, having won the Copa Libertadores.

After that, their number seven is anticipated to head to England, albeit Fulham rather than Liverpool is most likely his final destination.

Following “face-to-face talks” in Brazil last week, Fulham “moved ahead” of both Liverpool and Manchester United, according to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard.

Liverpool is said to be “out of the race,” and while United has “only enquired so far,” the sum is estimated to be about £30 million.

Liverpool could be “looking at defensive targets” ahead of any possible January acquisition, giving Fulham a clear shot at Andre.

Given how well Jurgen Klopp’s defence has performed thus far this season, it is unclear if this is true or just conjecture.

Many had anticipated that the manager would bring in a new left-sided center-back during the summer, but instead he stuck with his current alternatives and promoted Jarell Quansah from the academy.

Quansah has improved greatly, Virgil van Dijk is returning to form, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have all performed well following challenging periods.

However, Ibrahima Konate’s long-term fitness is still in doubt, and Kostas Tsimikas is now the starting left back following Andy Robertson’s injury.

Nevertheless, Tsimikas re-signed in September, so it is unlikely that he will be replaced. Klopp has Gomez and the returning Conor Bradley on the other wing as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s backups.

During the international break, there was renewed discussion over Alexander-Arnold’s suitability for a full-time midfield role after the 25-year-old excelled in that position in England’s 2-0 victory over Malta.

Should Klopp take that into account—which would account for his decisions to forgo pursuing Andre—then a replacement first-choice right-back might be needed.

It is highly likely that Liverpool will have a quiet January given they do not currently seem to require significant mid-season expenditure.

Liverpool ‘going after’ 19-year-old sensation Mac Allister thinks is destined for greatness

Liverpool is eager to keep splurging during the January transfer window, and they are looking to add players at both ends of the pitch.

Liverpool is eager to keep splurging during the January transfer window, and they are looking to add players at both ends of the pitch.

According to reports, Liverpool has entered the competition to capture desired defender Valentin Barco. Over the past few months, a number of Premier League teams have expressed interest in the Boca Juniors player. However, the Reds will be hoping that his Argentine link with Alexis Mac Allister would prove convincing in negotiations.

Over the summer, Jurgen Klopp oversaw a significant reorganisation at Anfield that included a reorganisation of his midfield ranks and the departure of several of his older stars. James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho were among the departing players, and Liverpool concentrated on bringing in younger, more capable replacements.

Wataru Endo, Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch were all brought in to give the team fresh vitality, and so far, they have succeeded in doing so. The Reds have reestablished themselves as title contenders and are currently ranked second in the Premier League.

Nonetheless, the Merseyside team is eager to keep blowing the cash—multiple acquisitions are scheduled for January. Liverpool has entered the competition to recruit Boca left-back Barco and is anticipated to make a move to sign him in January, according to Calcio Mercato.

Liverpool is eager to keep splurging during the January transfer window, and they are looking to add players at both ends of the pitch.

Diego Simeone is eager for the 19-year-old to join him at Atletico Madrid, and Juventus is also very much in the running for the player. But a transfer to the Premier League is also very much in the works.

Manchester City and Chelsea are among Barco’s suitors. Brighton put in an offer for him over the summer, and they have been in touch with him in hopes of making a deal in January.

However, as an agreement has yet to be reached for the versatile full-back who can play on the flank and in midfield, Liverpool has a strong chance of convincing Barco to dedicate his future to their project. Having openly praised the young defender, Mac Allister’s relationship with the fellow Argentine may come in handy if the Reds are trying to work out a trade.

“He (Barco) has a lot of ability and even when the opponents look like they are going to take the ball away from him, nobody can take it away from him,” Mac Allister stated earlier this month in an interview with D Sports Radio. Since he is still young, we must proceed cautiously. Even though he occasionally throws a little bit too much on the pitch, I perceive him as being very dedicated. He has the potential to play a significant role for our nation and effectively represent it in Europe.
