According to reports, Liverpool believes they may have identified the “right” striker to guide them ahead in the years following Jurgen Klopp exit.

It is said that Liverpool is looking for a new striker. They’ve been severely lacking in goalscoring consistency over the past few weeks, so they’re looking for a no. 9 who can lead the line.

At least, that’s what Corriere dello Sport claims. Liverpool is currently mentioned by the Italian publication as one of several teams vying to recruit Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Osimhen is in high demand, of course. Chelsea and Manchester United have been strongly connected to him, while Paris Saint-Germain is also interested in him.

But Liverpool is suddenly included in the mix. According to the publication, Osimhen is the “right” striker to take over for Jurgen Klopp, presumably during the “Arne Slot era.”

Osimhen won’t be inexpensive, though. PSG is prepared to make a bid of about £85 million, and there is a release clause of about £111 million. Naturally, that falls far short of that clause, but it does imply that the bidding will get off to a high start.

It even implies that Napoli will receive the entire clause should another team enter the competition.

VICTOR OSIMHEN IS STILL UNDER THE RADAR OF LIVERPOOL

This one, perhaps, might make sense after all. Osimhen has been a regular scorer for many years; during Napoli’s Scudetto-winning season, he scored 26 goals. Despite their difficulties this year, he has scored 14 goals.

Notable is also the similarity in profile between Osimhen and Santiago Gimenez, Arne Slot’s primary goal scorer at Feyenoord.

They both average 68% pass completion, although neither plays many passes at all nor completes the ones they do play very frequently. Darwin Nunez, in contrast, plays a lot more passes than both of them and passes at a rate of about 70%.

Nunez does not, however, capitalise on his opportunities. He has the poorest rate in the Premier League, four goals below his xG. Gimenez and Osimhen are both perfectly aligned with theirs.

Osimhen may be the top striker Slot is pursuing if he wants to emulate the Feyenoord method. The question now is if Liverpool would actually spend the money.

Going to be leaving soon There are just two teams interested in this Liverpool midfielder.

Thiago, a midfielder for Liverpool, currently only has two alternatives for the summer.

This is in line with a recent rumour from Fichajes, which states that two Italian teams are interested in the seasoned Spanish midfield player.

After sustaining a muscle injury in February, Thiago, 33, is expected to depart Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

What’s next for Thiago after his trade to Liverpool?

And now that his future is uncertain, the 33-year-old playmaker is reportedly drawing interest from Juventus and Inter Milan, albeit his next move has not yet been determined.

Thiago has played in Spain with Barcelona and Germany with Bayern Munich, but he hasn’t played in Serie A, which is one reason a transfer to Italy would be appealing to him.

However, it wouldn’t be shocking if Liverpool’s soon-to-be-leaving number six ended up in the Middle East before hanging up his boots, with clubs in the affluent Pro League of Saudi Arabia scheduled for a massive £2 billion summer buying binge.

Thiago, who won the FA and Carabao Cup under Jurgen Klopp, has spent four years at Anfield and has contributed directly to nine goals in 98 games across all competitions.
