Chelsea announce the signing of a Dutch star – an £80m ace set to save the Blues’ season – will the former star return to the Blues?
Here’s a recap of the top Chelsea news and gossip you might have missed today on icfootballnews –
Chelsea have signed Dutch midfielder Wieke Kaptien from FC Twente on a four-year deal.
After becoming the youngest player in the Dutch squad for the World Cup, the 18-year-old is now hoping to fulfill her potential at Chelsea in the long term following the Blues’ decision to move.
He will again spend the first of those four years on loan at Twente.
After that, Kapti wants to be ready to impress in Emma Hayes’ side and hopefully become a first-team regular.
She told the club’s official website: “It’s a very big club and I’m very honored to be here.” I can’t wait to play football for Chelsea.
“I can’t wait to meet the players and the fans, but I’m happy to have another year to play in the Eredivisie.”
Coach Emma Hayes added: “Wieke is a top young midfielder. She has brilliant energy in the middle of the park, but she’s also a player who can play between the two boxes really well.
Welcome to Chelsea, Wieke Kaptein! ✍️

“She likes to push forward, she’s tenacious and her style of play will suit the WSL.
It needs to develop further and we look forward to it in the future.

Unlike the men at Chelsea, the women at Chelsea have made some very good transfer decisions in recent months and adding the talented Wieke to the squad is a good move.
She may not be ready to make an impression on the team right now – but in a few seasons, she might. But now the hard work begins as she has a lot to prove to her new boss, Enma Hayes.
TERAMI WANTED?
It has been claimed that Chelsea will attempt to sign Mehdi Taremi in the January window after failing to sign a proper striker in the summer.
With CHELSEA looking to spend a lot of money over the summer to improve this attack, the board has decided to spend £34 million and bring Nicolas Jackson to the Premier League.
The young striker began making a name for himself in La Liga with Villareal and quickly became one of the most dangerous strikers in the Spanish league with his speed and quality in front of goal.
However, the new signing has scored just one goal since joining the club despite starting all four of their league games, and it’s no secret Mauricio Pochettino is disappointed not to have signed a more experienced striker.
WHAT IS THE LATEST.
According to the Daily Telegraph, FC Porto forward Taremi could provide Chelsea with a short-term attacking solution once the January transfer window opens in a few months.
The Iranian international has an impressive record in Portugal, scoring 80 goals and assisting 49 goals in 151 matches. There is a risk in signing, but signing a goalscorer like him could solve several problems.

Chelsea spent so much money last summer and some deals weren’t even worth it, but they will struggle to score goals and will need to ensure they sign a new striker in January.
The summer period was a time to get all the business done that Pochettino needed to move the club forward, but the first four Premier League games have shown that Arnetine need a striker.
Taremi is young enough to be worth your money when you’re on the Chelsea board and he has proven to have enough impact.
But there are already players in the Premier League who would cost less and be worth more.
CHELSEA will struggle over the next few months but if they don’t sign a striker in January it could be another terrible season for the Blues.
HAZARD ON WAY BACK?
Some shocking reports suggest Eden Hazard could face a surprise return to Chelsea.
After becoming one of the Premier League’s finest players, scoring 110 goals and providing 92 assists in 352 games in all competitions and helping CHELSEA win numerous titles during their time in England, Real Madrid have called on Belgian star.
The 32-year-old made 76 appearances, scoring seven goals and registering 12 assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s side during a hugely disappointing spell at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
But he has won many titles with Real Madrid, including two La Liga titles, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup, which is quite an achievement for a player who spends most of his time in bench.
He is not a free agent after failing to agree a new contract with Real Madrid and with no offers on the table, he has been waiting for the arrival of his next club and who has made him an offer for the next 12 months.
WHAT ARE THE LATEST –
According to the Daily Express, Chelsea could make a shock move by re-signing former Real Madrid striker Eden Hazard, even if the summer transfer window is closed.
Chelsea have spent a lot of money in the transfer window and have added a number of young players to the squad, but the Daily Express say Hazard would be a man who could add some experience to the squad.

Hazard is a brilliantly gifted player who flopped massively at Real Madrid – and the fact that no club have shown any real interest in him shows he’s ready at the top of the game.
If CHELSEA bring him back, it won’t be worth it.
He’s done, he’d just get a huge salary and just play here and there.
There’s no point in bringing in someone who has nothing left to offer, and we really don’t expect that to happen in the next few weeks.
