How Liverpool might line up after Mohamed Salah’s surprise and Leroy Sane’s acquisition
Following the most recent Leroy Sane and Mohamed Salah rumors, we take an early look at a potential Liverpool starting lineup for the opening game of the 2024–25 season.
Should Mohamed Salah leave the club in the summer of 2019, Liverpool would need to find a replacement for his goal-scoring and creative abilities.
According to the most recent rumors, Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich is that player.
According to the most recent rumors, the Reds are willing to spend some of the money they recover in the summer of 2024 in order to sign Sane to a club-record contract because the Saudi Pro League’s interest in the Egyptian player is simply not going away.
Within the group of supporters, this has already sparked discussion. To start with, it is understandable that some people are concerned about the potential loss of Salah, who keeps up his high standards well into his thirties.
After that, many recall the Sane of yesteryear, a quick left winger who scored four goals against Liverpool while a member of Manchester City between 2016 and 2020.
But upon returning to Germany with Bayern after tearing his ACL against the Reds in the 2019 Community Shield match, he was forced to change his all-around attacking style to one with a slower tempo.
Even so, Salah’s current Liverpool contract is actually coming to an end next summer’s transfer window with just one year left. If no deal is reached by then, be it a new contract or a sale, the club runs the risk of losing their 192-goal man for nothing.
This would be financially unthinkable, especially in light of the fact that Al-Ittihad already made a £150 million offer two months prior.
A decision is therefore imminent, and before making a decision, all options must be investigated and analyzed.
It is undoubtedly intimidating for the Reds to be without Salah, but given that Sane has a track record of scoring goals and winning championships wherever he has played, it is reasonable to suggest that Jurgen Klopp rekindles his interest in the player. After all, six league goals in seven games isn’t at all a bad performance so far this season.
The alternative would be to move Diogo Jota—as has occasionally been done—possibly to the right flank. Ben Doak could also be pushed into a starting position quickly, but that would put a lot of pressure on the soon-to-be 18-year-old.
It is also important to keep in mind that both strategies, along with the possibility of not signing anyone, run the risk of significantly reducing the team’s attacking depth, as the forward line would be put under pressure by two injuries or suspensions.
Furthermore, as Fluminese prepare for their Copa Libertadores final, rumors linking Andre Trindade have started to resurface.
It is believed that after the game, he will be available for sale.
One expert predicts that the highly skilled defensive midfielder will be the last link in the Reds’ midfield puzzle.
In light of this, the following is how Liverpool might line up for the upcoming season if Salah is sold and Sane/Andre are added
Liverpool’s (4-3-3) Alisson; Alexander-Arnold; Konate; Van Dijk; Robertson; Andre; Szoboszlai; Mac Allister; Sane; Nunez; and Diaz.
