Following his resignation as Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp has committed to remain an honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity.
Klopp has long been a supporter and ambassador of the LFC Foundation, having contributed in a variety of ways.
Whether it’s hosting guests in the AXA Training Centre, giving public talks on the important work being done all day long in the Liverpool City Region, or participating in events to promote the charity and earn money for it.
Recalling the “incredible” job that the LFC Foundation does every day throughout the Liverpool City Region and beyond, he once praised the organisation and dubbed it the best department at the club.
After Klopp’s final game in charge, the LFC Foundation received a variety of unique things that he had worn and autographed for a foundation fundraising auction. In just seven days, the auction raised an astounding £40,000.
His position as an honorary ambassador will guarantee that his relationship with the LFC Foundation endures in the future.
According to Klopp, who plans to stay on as an honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation, the organisation “does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond.”
“I’m really proud to be the first-ever honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation and to go on working with them. With more time on my hands, I’m eager to see what we can do with that.
“We are delighted that Jurgen is continuing his support of the Foundation as our first honorary ambassador,” said Matt Parish, CEO of the LFC Foundation.
His continued support of the Foundation and the work we undertake around the Liverpool City Region is excellent and shows his devotion to the organisation, which has been invaluable to us over the years.
“Throughout his tenure at the club, Jurgen has demonstrated his love and passion for the city, and it will only help us to have his support and voice advocating for the work that we do going forward.”
Based on the latest data, the LFC Foundation provided assistance to 123,000 individuals during the 2022–2023 season. Over the previous three years, the Foundation has disbursed over £65 million in health benefits and made over £16 million in direct contributions to the local economy.
The Legends game against Ajax last season brought in nearly £1.2 million, setting a record for the amount raised from a single Legends match. The majority of the proceeds went towards funding the Foundation’s educational initiatives, which address a variety of social issues and improve the prospects for young people in the neighbourhood.
