Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark is expected to be involved against Leicester City in the EFL Cup next week.

A report from the Liverpool Echo shared more details after the club’s Under-21s faced Morecambe in the EFL Trophy.

Barry Lewtas’ side won 3-0 against the mid-table League Two side.

Mateusz Musialowski, Calum Scanlon and Bobby Clark all scored before half-time in a comfortable game for the Reds.

It was an impressive performance from a group of youngsters for whom Liverpool have high expectations.
16-year-old central defender Carter Pinnington received high praise from his coach after the match, while several players from the squad have been involved with the first team in recent times.

Scanlon, Clark and James McConnell all had opportunities under Jurgen Klopp in pre-season.

Clark is now expected to be part of Liverpool’s EFL Cup squad next week, in a tribute to his excellent form in recent months.

He has already impressed in the competition and even had the chance to shine in the Champions League last season.

The 18-year-old has already scored four goals in three games from midfield, which will make Klopp aware of his achievements.

However, Clark faces serious competition for a spot on the team from several other young players.

He hopes to replicate Stefan Bajcetic’s rise to the first team, but faces a tougher task in the eight-man role.
In addition to current starters Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and newcomer Ryan Gravenberch are also battling for minutes.

Clark is due to try his luck in the cup when Liverpool play next week.

If he can put in a stunning performance, there is no reason why Klopp shouldn’t give him more chances,particularly in the Europa League.

On Thursday night, Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Liverpool, made his full debut for the Reds.

The 21-year-old, who transferred from Bayern Munich to Liverpool in the summer, made his Europa League debut against LASK.

The Dutchman received his first start against LASK after serving as a substitute against Wolves over the weekend.
