A suspected hamstring problem is believed to have disrupted his Sunday performance, with Alexander-Arnold being replaced by youngster Jarell Quansah after 71 minutes on Sunday.

After the match, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp confirmed that the England international would undergo an examination to determine the extent of the problem: “I’m not exactly sure [of the nature of his injury]. I asked him about it, he said It’s [his] hamstring. His opinion isn’t too serious, but of course we have to wait for the scans and then we’ll know more.”

Alexander-Arnold, who is once again listed as a midfielder for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Ukraine and the friendly against Scotland, but his injury could see him out of action. A potential hamstring injury could sideline him for weeks, although Alexander-Arnold himself doesn’t believe the problem is serious.

Once club football returns after the international break, Liverpool take on Wolves at lunchtime on Saturday 16 September before kicking off their Europa League campaign against LASK five days later at Anfield. Injured or not, Alexander-Arnold is not expected to play a major role in the Reds’ group stage this season, only in the latter stages of the competition.
