Inside Liverpool's celebrations in the changing room, Virgil van Dijk sends a playful message

Liverpool defeated Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday night to win the Carabao Cup, and the Reds celebrated the win as manager Jurgen Klopp looked to cap out his time at Anfield in the best possible way.

With yet another trophy, Liverpool has begun Jurgen Klopp’s farewell season at the club in the greatest conceivable way.

In the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at Wembley, the Reds overcame Chelsea, and Virgil van Dijk scored the game-winning goal in extra time. Given the Merseyside club’s growing injury problems, the outcome was crucial, and it guarantees that Klopp will go with at least one trophy in hand.

Between now and the end of the season, they could add more, but throughout the evening, the festivities went on in Liverpool and at Wembley. Following their trophy hoist celebration with fans on the pitch, the team went into the dressing room.

As has been the norm after Liverpool victories since their victory over Tottenham in the 2019 Champions League final, Dua Lipa’s song One Kiss was audible. Stars like Adrian, Harvey Elliott, Bobby Clarke, and Cody Gakpo joined in.

Then, with the trophy and wearing a Colombian flag, Winger Luis Diaz entered the locker room. For Diaz, who had devoted the Reds’ triumph to his parents following their abduction ordeal the previous year, it was a unique occasion.

“I dedicate this title to my parents for everything they have been through,” he declared. It makes winning this title all the more remarkable. Being able to celebrate with my family is very important to me.

After that, he gave Adrian, the Spanish custodian for Liverpool, the trophy and joined in on the dance to the fullest. Matchwinner Van Dijk was another celebrity who was invited to join in the dancing.

Before taking off and tossing it aside to participate in his side’s festivities, the Dutchman was dressed in a coat. He stated, “You should always savour the good moments and this is definitely one of them,” after winning his first trophy as the Reds captain.

Inside Liverpool's celebrations in the changing room, Virgil van Dijk sends a playful messageWe are quite fortunate and realise that things could have gone wrong and we could have lost, so we will never take these things for granted. However, despite all of the issues we had both before and during the game, we succeeded in our task, and for that I am really proud. Being a part of this group makes me proud all the time, but I’m especially proud of the lads. Every member of the team contributed, hence the team deserves full credit.

In addition, he made sure to give a particular mention to Klopp, with whom he celebrated the trophy’s raising. “I’m happy that he agreed to be next to me,” Van Dijk continued. This is a moment of pride and significance that I will always treasure.

In the meantime, Klopp—who was not dressed in his usual clothes but rather a Carabao Cup winner’s t-shirt—suggested that his most recent achievement was his “most special.” “This is easily the most special trophy in my 20 years,” he stated in a post-game speech. I don’t give a damn about my legacy. Not that I was here to make one. This was really unique.”

Van Dijk added more to the dressing room than just his dancing. The defender is heard stating in a video, “thought I was finished,” before giving the camera a pointed glance.

While Van Dijk spearheaded Liverpool’s celebrations, especially following his game-winning goal, there were some unsettling incidents involving Ryan Gravenberch, his teammate both on the club and internationally. At Wembley, the midfield player was stretchered off during the first half after Moises Caicedo’s particularly strong challenge.

He made every effort to participate, but his attempts were hampered by the fact that he was using crutches and a supporting boot. Gravenberch will most likely miss Wednesday’s FA Cup match against Southampton as the Reds try to win more trophies.
